Glad my family is not the only one thinking Lady Gaga is a nut and disgusting! I don't like the way many of them dress but I really do not approve of the way the crowd reacts to the singers. They are up there all alone and the crowd can be very intimidating. The show has been on for many years so they should know what they're getting themselves into but the harsh reviews and booing at times... yuck.

And you're right about the commercials in the evening being provocative. An innocent show like It's Me or the Dog is showing same sex couples on it and so far, my son is unaware of this but he's growing up fast.noreenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11512311149461187879noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8046083858777525940.post-36453211156602292732011-05-16T16:55:31.927-07:002011-05-16T16:55:31.927-07:00I watched a bit of that episode and was lost as to...I watched a bit of that episode and was lost as to what the hype of it all is about. Although, that answer is pretty clear. It's the same thing that leaves so much to be undesired in popular movies, music and television. I did see a clip of one of the music advisors or coach tell the contestants that the competition isn't about how well they could sing; it's about drawing and keeping a crowd. It's doing the things Lady Gaga and others do- shock an audience to attention. I find it tremendously saddening to see that singing isn't about talent but performance. Take a listen to singers from previous decades and it's clear that programs like AI aren't concerned about displaying beautiful voices but sex appeal and shock performances. Saddest of all is all the young kids who watch this and other programming and desire to be just like them. Better role models are needed than those in these displays.
-Whitney @www.revivinghomemaking.blogspot.comWhitneyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02565993597437176915noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8046083858777525940.post-22529591241168577912011-05-15T12:19:56.245-07:002011-05-15T12:19:56.245-07:00I never have watched that one, terrible though it ...I never have watched that one, terrible though it may be to admit it. We used to ballroom dance, and watched the first season of Dancing With the Stars with great interest. But when they gave the prize to over-sexualized Kelly over the clearly vastly superior John O'Hurley, I realized it wasn't about dancing, it was about sex. And I've never watched again. That, or any other competitive show.Kathleen@so much to sayhttp://www.kathleenbasi.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8046083858777525940.post-20937066444765454812011-05-15T12:13:16.899-07:002011-05-15T12:13:16.899-07:00I've quit watching AI since Carrie Underwood w...I've quit watching AI since Carrie Underwood won. It kept getting sexually more and more explicit, and while I enjoy seeing young talent, something about even the show title is off-putting. It leads way too many people to adopt the shallow secular standards of the world. And I can't stand the judges. It all has become too much yelling and not enough real singing and artistry. If I were a parent I wouldn't let my kids watch it.Barb Schoenebergerhttp://www.sufferingwithjoy.com/blog/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8046083858777525940.post-20287090924297381182011-05-14T16:11:19.032-07:002011-05-14T16:11:19.032-07:00I haven't wanted to watch that show anymore. So NOT family-friendly, which really disappoints me because it's the only show my daughter and I watch regularly. I've loved the talent this year, but the smut is getting to be too much. We ended up having to fast-forward through much of the special-act performances: Lady Gaga (obscene), Jordin Sparkis (yes, VERY disappointed), Steven Tyler's video was pornographic, and yes they're even trying to corrupt sweet Lauren who didn't want to say she was evil. :-(

And the commercials. I fast-forward through those, and ESPECIALLY the Victoria Secret ones. So I didn't catch the one you were talking about.

I was disappointed to see James go home too, especially since Haley stayed, the one who always wears the most seductive clothing.

What to do? What to do? I hate to quit watching it so near the end, but it's getting trashy... I may try to find somewhere to report to about it and at least let my opinion be known there.Lisa notes...https://www.blogger.com/profile/07103364395238899215noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8046083858777525940.post-7346851510653062822011-05-13T19:09:37.395-07:002011-05-13T19:09:37.395-07:00I haven't watched AI in awhile and from your p...I haven't watched AI in awhile and from your post, it sounds like this "all American" show that I have watched in the past with my children is getting more and more drawn into the secular, immoral world of ours!
