I believe this attitude to teach is lacking in our churches among the older women and there are women like me who are a little younger that are looking for examples of how to be a wife, a mother, and do the things that go along with taking care of our homes and families. I lost my own mother before I was married so I miss the guidance she would offer if she were still here! As a child I remember this verse sitting in a frame on top of our television! Made us think twice about turning it on!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8046083858777525940.post-6625569699800528782011-07-20T08:08:15.686-07:002011-07-20T08:08:15.686-07:00I used this quote and linked it to your blog today...I used this quote and linked it to your blog today on my top 5 list:

http://womenlivingwell.org/2011/07/wlw-wednesday-link-up-party-and-my-top-5-2/

I always love good Piper quote :) Thanks!
CourtneyCourtney (Women Living Well)https://www.blogger.com/profile/09656103671995728225noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8046083858777525940.post-60787018531905842692011-07-18T10:19:40.656-07:002011-07-18T10:19:40.656-07:00Wow! May we be encouraged to be 'always learning' about our Lord and His ways. Of course, our friends and family thought we are crazy for doing so. hah. Not only do we have more time & communication with each other and less monthly expenses, but I've also noticed how there is a greater peace within our home. I've found that the news reports will actually cause a person become to become anxious! Television news plays into the fears or anxieties of the viewers. The more dramatic the story telling, the more viewers they recieve. Sad, but true. We still keep up to date with online or the newspaper, but not having a constant stream of [bad] news on the set made in part to inform and part to entertain has been WONDERFUL. I highly recommend unplugging the set. There really isn't a whole lot you'll miss out on. I especially think it is vital for newlyweds. Just my own little thoughts. :)
-Whitney @
www.revivinghomemaking.blogspot.comWhitneyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02565993597437176915noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8046083858777525940.post-25502486596299939462011-07-14T09:21:18.247-07:002011-07-14T09:21:18.247-07:00We got rid of our tv about 8 years ago. We had a stint with out it for a couple of years before that, but found it too easy to slip back b/c we had cable Internet which at that time came with cable tv as a package, no separate plans then. Even the good shows/channels ended up with so much junk and the commercials were atrocious! We started out changing channels or looking away when certain things came on the screen, but we slowly found our standards slipping. When we moved away we had a great opportunity to kick the tv out for good, and it's been great.

We do watch movies on our computer, and like that we have so much more control over content that way. :-)

(that's just our story, your results might vary, lol!)

~Laurahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10493530835651935340noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8046083858777525940.post-12418233855465800502011-07-14T06:45:39.497-07:002011-07-14T06:45:39.497-07:00I love reading and agree that the TV should be shu...I love reading and agree that the TV should be shut off on Saturday night!Jen Nelsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02260852691535456914noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8046083858777525940.post-59611192539951489342011-07-14T05:30:30.371-07:002011-07-14T05:30:30.371-07:00What a wonderful post today!
