Eat Until Satisfied, Not Full

Good advice from Candace Cameron Bure in her new book Reshaping It.  I read almost half of it the other night and really enjoyed it.  She is the sister of Kirk Cameron and acted in "Full House" for many years.  She loves Jesus and she gives a lot of good, practical wisdom in her book.

She knows that she can do "all things through Christ who strengthens her" ...Even lose 25 pounds and keep it off for many years.  One of the fruits of the Spirit is self-control so if He lives in side of you, you have self-control.

You just need to step out and start exercising it, reminding yourself of this truth, and allow God to give you the strength to follow through.  Start teaching this principle to your children at a young age.  It will serve them well the rest of their lives.

She seems to have applied biblical truth to all areas of her life:  her marriage, raising her children, her career, etc.  This was a fun and inspiring book to read.  If you like books like that, you will enjoy this one.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

The Feminization Of Our Culture

Will the real men stand up? A big reason I write this blog is in defense of men. They have been so belittled in our generation. Look at the examples on television...The men are jerks and the women are wonderful. We want our husbands to be soft and gentle like us...Do we really want that? They weren't created to be soft and gentle. They were created to go out and hunt and kill.

I see many mothers stopping the fathers from making their sons into men. I thought Ken was way too hard on my boys, especially in sports. They had to keep playing even when they were hurt. Know what? I am glad now.

My sons are tough...real men. Sure they get emotional at times (which is good) but overall they are tough.

They aren't run by their emotions or cry easily.

Their feeling don't get hurt.

They stand up for what they think is right.

They compete hard.

If you want a soft, emotional guy, don't marry a guy. Find a good girlfriend. Women tend to think with their hearts and men with their minds. It is a good thing. It gives balance to a society.

Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.

This Is The Life!

A Wise Woman Takes Rebuke

Raise your hand if you are good at taking rebuke or correction!  Do you know anybody that is good at taking it?  It's tough but you know what, I have tried very hard the past few months to take it and not get offended or argue back. It's good...I know it is what I am suppose to do.

I wrote a post titled I Am Not Perfect and I admitted I wasn't perfect.  I think this topic bears being repeated.  Friendships and marriages are ruined because we don't want to listen to others criticize or correct us. The key to becoming a better person is listening to those around you and taking their rebuke or criticism.  They are a mirror to our behavior.  Others see our faults better than we do and we can learn from them if we are open to listening.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if every time you have a problem with someone you felt free to go and discuss it with them?  You would know they wouldn't get upset with you but would really listen?

I think that is partly what humility looks like...Being able to take it, absorb it, and apply it to our lives....Learning from each other.  The Bible says that iron sharpens iron so let's start being open to allowing others to sharpen us.  It isn't fun or easy but it is good and we are called to be good.

Criticism can increase your potential for growth mentally, emotionally and spiritually.  Until you learn to accept criticism, you may never learn who you truly are.  It is in criticism that you will learn your weaknesses and the things you need to change.  A teachable person will accept and seriously consider criticism.
