Drink Deep And Full

Drink deep and full of the love of God and you will not demand the impossible from earth's loves, and the love of wife and child, or husband and friend will grow holier and healthier and simpler and grander.
Oswald Chambers

When you know who you are in Christ and fill your mind with the wisdom and knowledge of God, you won't expect as much from others.  You will learn to be content with your life.

We easily demand the impossible from earth's loves ~

We want our husbands to adore us and always say nice things to us.

We want our children to fill our lives with fun and meaning.

We want our friends to love us the way that we are and make us happy.

This puts a lot of expectations on our relationships.  We are trying to find fulfillment and satisfaction from others instead of from God.  When we love people the way that they are and accept them with their faults, life is much better and they will enjoy you a lot more.

The less we expect from others, the happier we will be with life.  Learning to be content and joyful despite circumstances is a goal worth pursuing.  Life will always be hard and trials will come to everyone.  This is why we must seek those things which are above and put our trust in God alone.  He is a big God and He alone can handle all life throws at us.

If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above,
where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
Colossians 3:1
