Kathie Lee Adorns The Gospel

At the age of 12, Kathie Lee had a choice to make.  Would she follow the world's way or God's way?  She chose God's way and her life has never been the same.

She talked frequently of her marriage to Frank Gifford.  She loves him and being married to him.  The Globe, a tabloid newspaper, helped Frank fall into an affair.  Yes, he initiated it but they paid his mistress to set him up so they could take pictures of the two, splash it all over the tabloids, and make a mockery of Kathie Lee's marriage and her goody two shoe image.

But God..."When I went through very, very tough times when I was accused of awful things, the first phone call I got was from Billy Graham," she said.  "When my husband was unfaithful to me, and it was a terrible time, you know who Billy called first:  Frank.  He called Frank first.  Then I got on the line.  He wanted to talk to both of us.  He knew that healing had to be from both of us."  Satan thought he won but God won because they were both willing to listen to wise counsel and mend their marriage."

I have always enjoyed watching Kathie Lee.  I watched her when she was on Regis And Kathie Lee and now I watch her on Hoda And Kathie Lee.  She is not ashamed of the gospel of Christ.  She often shares what she has learned in her devotions that morning.  She frequently interviews people of faith who share amazing stories of redemption.  She loves her husband.  She loves her children.  She loves what is pure, good, and holy.  She is an amazing testimony of God's faithfulness.  Yesterday, on the Today Show, she proudly told of the moment she received Jesus into her heart because of Billy Graham's preaching.

I love goodness.  I love holiness.  I love watching people who walk with Jesus live godly lives for all the world to see even a during their broken times.  Kathie Lee shared with us a person who has been inspirational in her life.  She shared Billy Graham.  You can watch it HERE.  It is well worth the time.

My grandfather came to know Billy Graham from watching him preach on television.  Billy Graham has lived a life above reproach and I am deeply thankful for that.  He never wanted to blaspheme the Word of God by being disobedient to Him.  He lived a life adorning the Word of God.  This is something we are all called to do.

Billy Graham and Kathie Lee live lives for God boldly and unashamedly.  May we all follow their example and do the same.

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ:
for it is the power of God unto salvation to
every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
Romans 1:16

I love Kathie Lee also. I was blessed to see Scandalous on Broadway and Kathie was sitting right in front of me. I told her what a light she is in the darkness and she was just lovely and kind. It broke my heart what the media did to her Broadway show. It was wonderful.
The acting was awesome, the music was incredible and the story was so interesting.
It's a shame it didn't last longer so folks could have a chance to see it. I admire her courage and strength to forgive.
How exactly does someone "fall into an affair"? It's not an accident. Someone may be tempted, but they make a conscious decision to engage in sinful behavior.

I believe that sinners can repent and those that they have hurt can extend forgiveness and grace, but that doesn't mean denying or minimizing the sin. The goal is not to say that the sin was no big deal - it's for the sinner to acknowledge the wrongdoing, seek and receive forgiveness, and go forth and sin no more.

Thank you for sharing this. I had kind of given up on Kathie awhile back. She seemed to go along to get along for awhile. Being on TheToday Show I figured she was compromising her beliefs because otherwise she would be fired. I am glad she hasn't totally.
I have a totally different view of Kathy Lee Gifford and was kind of upset to see her and even Donald Trump at Billy Graham's birthday celebration (it kind of looked like a who's who thing to me and he seems like someone who would not want all that attention). Every time I've seen her she doesn't seem like a humble person to me and likes to "name drop". She seems very fake and just rubs me the wrong way. I did feel badly for her that her husband was unfaithful and the whole world knew about it. I admire her for staying with him when it could have been really easy to leave.

What I have always loved about Billy Graham is that he loved everyone from Donald Trump to Barack Obama. It mattered not who they were. Kathie Lee seems the same to me, also. She loves everyone and is kind and loving towards them. This is what Christ wants from us and what the world should see from us no matter who they are.
I agree with you Lori and right after I pushed "submit" thought, darn, I should have reworded that! I think the thing that kind of rubbed me the wrong way is that most of the times I've seen her, she seems very full of herself. I hear her say things about her faith, but it just seems like it's all for show for some reason. And as far as Donald Trump goes, I know we're supposed to love everyone - it's not like I dislike him, but it seems like he really wouldn't give a second thought to someone like Billy Graham unless it would benefit him somehow, like being seen at the birthday celebration. Anyway, I realize I am not doing a very good job, once again, articulating my thoughts, so I think I'll leave it at that! I love your blog, by the way, and read it regularly. You've taught me a lot :)
Wonderful post, Lori! Thank you for sharing your thoughts on these two precious souls in the sight of God.
Her morning show with Hoda is a drinking party each day as far as I'm concerned and she certainly does NOT dress as a Godly woman should...I enjoy your blog Lori but I totally disagree on this!

They do have a couple sips of wine but that is all. She has repeatedly spoken out against drunkenness. She did dress sexy once in awhile on Regis and Kathie Lee, in fact, I quit watching it because of it but I never see her dress sexy now.
By the way she dresses, the amount of makeup and jewellery I don't see her as a Christian role model. When I go to work I dress modestly, with moderate amount of makeup and jewellery and make sure I look and behave like a Christian woman. I adore the gospel but as a woman that works your messages are often negative towards women like me - what makes Kathie Lee any different?

I have never seen her wear an excess of jewelry and everyone on television wears a lot of makeup. Many times, they will show pictures of her at home or out with friends and she has no makeup on!
I generally agree 100% with your posts, but just can't do that today. I agree with Kay, it appears to me that Kathie is way too flaunting in her dress and she and Hoda do usually have a drink. I'm not against a glass of wine, but just do not like the way it comes across on their show. I care nothing for the show and certainly would NOT rank Kathie Lee with Billy Graham. A disappointing post!

The Glove did not help Frank Gifford fall into an affair. He did that on his own.

I don't often watch the Today Show. I much prefer CBS This Morning, which does some actual journalism. Today Show is too celeb focused. Dave Garroway must be rolling in his grave.

Never been a fan of Kathie Lee. I always found her to be really smug. And I don't really have an opinion on Billy Graham. I never really followed his career considering I'm Jewish.
Kathie Lee was married and divorced before marrying Gifford. She worked while her children were young. I'm not saying she's a horrible person but she's certainly not a role model.
