Weddings~ A Glimpse of Heaven

After Ryan and Erin got married last year, Alyssa told me it was the best day of her life.  {I'm sure she would say her wedding day surpassed Ryan's wedding as the best day of her life now!}  She thought it was great because after watching the love between Ryan and Erin, everybody longs to be loved like that and it's exciting to be able witness such deep love and admiration between two people.

After Alyssa's wedding, Cassi said both Alyssa's and Ryan's weddings were a glimpse of heaven.  Everyone is so happy and having such a great time eating, laughing and dancing.  Everyone looks so beautiful.  It's almost a surreal experience.

When Alyssa turned the corner, walking down the stairs towards Jon on her wedding day, tears were streaming down his face.  I thought of him when I read this quote by Debi Pearl yesterday:

I know that the angels in heaven stand amazed at how much a man can
love a woman, how he can break down weeping at the thought of how
precious she is to him.  The reason he loves her so is because she IS
precious.  She has earned his total adoration and love.  She is what
God asks of a woman, and the end result is a man who cherishes her
beyond anything this world can know.

Jon's not an emotional type guy but Alyssa has brought out emotions I'm not sure he even realized he had.  Alyssa has earned his total adoration and love by loving him just the way he is and not trying to change him in any way...unconditional love, just as Christ loves us.

When we see the union between a husband and a wife, it should point us to the great union that will someday take place in heaven between Christ and His Church, His Bride.  What rejoicing there will be!!!  What celebrating and dancing!!!

Yes, I think both of their marriages gave us a small glimpse of what heaven will be like...to be loved like that unconditionally by Someone, to be eternally happy, eating, drinking, dancing, celebrating...being with our Savior forever...HEAVEN!

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
