A Cocktail Of Chemicals

Do you know what is in the wine you drink, if you drink it?  For one thing, grapes are always on the list of the top ten dirty dozen, the most highly sprayed foods to avoid.  Grapes are sprayed with 35 different toxic chemicals which are known to cause cancer.  Also, most grapes are from GMO grapes which means they weren't created the way God created them.

There are also sulfates in the wine which are proven to cause health problems.  So when grapes are made into wine, all of those 35 different pesticides, herbicides, and sulfates are concentrated into a very toxic beverage.

We have been told that wine is good for us.  It well may be if it is organic wine but a wine filled with many chemicals couldn't possibly be healthy.  It seems to be a big gamble to take and has a good chance of leading to cancer, especially if you drink it often.

You can buy organic wines at many different stores now.  Trader Joe's has bottles for $4.  You can ask them what the best tasting one is and start looking for a healthy alternative to a toxic cocktail.  Start becoming wise about what you put into your body.

Wise men and women are always learning,
always listening for fresh insights.

We don't drink alcohol, but we do eat grapes a lot at our house! I had no idea that grapes were sprayed with so much toxic stuff. That is so disturbing. :( Thanks for the info!
I switched to organic wine a few months ago. I limit myself to a glass, and when I would drink conventional wines I would either get sleepy or have a headache. Since switching to organic I experience none of that, and I can enjoy a glass - the taste is also so much better! I love trying local, organic wine as well.

Blessings,

Jenn

We don't drink as we believe drinking is a sin. No worries about wine. (or any other alcohol) We only buy organic fruits and veggies.
I had no idea! Thanks for this information. I have been following your blog for a few months and have learned so much more about food chemicals.
I'm glad my hubby makes wine at home! We can control what goes into it.
Actually, the fact about grapes being GMO, that isn't quite true. The grape varietals have been cross bred or hybridized for centuries. The crosses may not have happened naturally because of geography, but the process was natural, grape flower to flower, or it would not have happened. In GMO foods, such as soy, corn, or sugar beets, The take a gene for a characteristic they want from some other organism, attach it to a bacterium so that the host will accept it, and insert it in the laboratory. The long-term effects have not been carefully studied, but it is obvious that a true GMO is something that our bodies have never had to deal with. You are what you eat.

The rest of your article is so very true. Thank you for publishing it.
Hi Lori,
You are so right Great advice :) We are waiting for our new grapevines to start producing...maybe next year :) Then we can make our own. Would love to have you visit my blog at... http://www.theselfsufficienthomeacre.com/
These are good points to consider.
I also don't believe that wine is as 'healthful' as we are lead to believe--I know that I feel so much better physically, and mentally sharper, when I stay 'on the wagon'.
