Debi Pearl is accused of teaching that wives are subordinate to husbands. Is this a bad thing? Subordinate means to be under the authority of someone, like employees are subordinate to employers. Students are subordinate to teachers. Citizens are subordinate to the government. So yes, I believe that wives are subordinate to husbands and I think it is a good thing since God teaches it this way.
Does this mean wives are wallflowers who never give their opinions? No, of course you can give your opinions and discuss things with your husband. Does this mean wives must let their husband physically abuse them? No, call the authorities if he physically harms you. Does this mean if he asks you to sin, you should sin? No, God is your highest authority and He tells you not to sin. Does this mean women are lesser value than men? No, just as children are not lesser in value than parents.

The aged women likewise...teach the young women to be...obedient to their own husband.

Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything.

I think those verses are very clear what a wife's role in marriage is suppose to be. Is is easy? No, we like having our own way. Our husbands may be wrong some of the time but that is okay. Obeying God is way more important than being right and getting our own way.
