Amazing, Unquestioning Love

Call The Midwives is a British show on PBS that I have been watching recently.  It is only a make-believe show but sometimes something happens that is so profound even in a make believe show that you have to share it with others.  {Several women have told me this is a true story which makes it truly amazing!}

There was an older white couple and the wife was pregnant.  She told the midwife that she married her husband because he was so kind and generous, not because she loved him.  He was always doing everything he could to show his love for her.

When the midwives delivered her baby, they delivered a black baby.  The midwives were very nervous about bringing the father in to see the baby.  When they finally brought him in, he looked at the baby and then asked to hold him.  He lovingly stroked the baby's hand and cuddled him.

We see him a little while later bringing the baby in to see the midwives because the baby was sick.  There was a voice then that said that he never asked any questions but loved the baby and his wife unconditionally and with unquestioning love.  He won his wife's love.

It reminds me of Les Miserables when the priest took in the thief who ended up stealing from him.  When the police brought the thief to the priest, the priest told the thief he forgot to take the candlesticks.  The priest's love eventually changed the thief into a completely new man.

God's love is like this.  He loves us unconditionally and unquestioningly.  He accepts us just as we are with all our sins and faults then makes His home inside of us.  He makes us into a new creature and convicts and changes us.  His love changes us.   May we use our love to change others.
Owe no one anything, except to love each other,
for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law.
Romans 13:8

I have watched this series and its excellent. But it isn't made up, it's based on the life of Jenny one of the midwives. You can buy her books as well. Mostly real, life in the 1950's in the East End of London. That's what makes the stories even more wonderful . Season 2 is about to be shown in the UK shortly.

Thanks for this information, Joluise. That does even make it more powerful if this part of the story is true. I am really enjoying watching it.
Yes! I was going to say what Joluise said. And when I saw the picture, I got so excited because I just discovered this show and I love it! You are so right...God's love for us is unconditional!
I am watching this episode right now at this moment. I love this show!!
So beautiful! I will have to see if I can find it! I am always in search of something wholesome and inspiring to watch!:)
What a beautiful message you've shared with us this morning! While I have not heard of this TV program before, I do understand your sentiments precisely. God's love is totally unconditional. He keeps loving us despite all of our messes. He showed us how deep His love is for us by giving us His son for payment of our sins. Thanks for linking up today on Wayback Wednesdays!

I keep meaning to watch this show, so many people have such good reports on it. Enjoyed my visit for Inspiration Friday.
Beautiful post. I've not watched the show, but I have seen Les Miserable and read the book. The thief in turn shows compassion and love for many others. Thanks for sharing this great truth.
Love is so amazing. Especially His love.
Blessings,
Charlotte
I loved reading Les Miserables--such a clear picture of God's unconditional love. I'm thankful for the love of God that changed me. I want to pass on that compassionate, unconditional love to others.
Love this series on PBS! Last night was so good--referring to how there was so much love in a house that you could feel it in every nook & cranny--practically reach out and touch it because it was just so strong! I cried during the show last night and I don't usually cry...I want that kind of love in my own house!
Lori,
I am so thankful for your sharing this amazing story and inspirational show. I would like to feature this tonight for the 'EOA' Wednesday link-up. What a rich story to illustrate the unconditional love of the Father!
May the Lord always bless your blog ministry!
The book of "call the midwife" is much more heartbreaking than the TV series. It made me very aware of how fortunate I am to live now and not in the 50s, but also sad that the close knit community no longer exists.
I love that story from Les Mis, Lori. Sounds like The Midwives is a good one as well. Yes! This is how our Fathers love is--transforming.
My husband and I have enjoyed this show as well. We missed season 1 so I would like to rent it from the library if possible. Have a beautiful day!

Praying for all those still affected by Hurricane Sandy.
excellent tie-in to Les Miserables. I loved Call the Midwife and that episode was particularly touching.
Never heard of it, but it does sound fascinating.
That sounds like my kind of show...

I'll look for it!
Call the Midwife is a wonderful series. Each episode is like a precious little gem of a story. And, love is the abiding message in all of them.

This is a beautiful start to the newest round of Alphabe-Thursday.
I have not seen this show but I like the post you wrote. It is tough to be a kind hearted person in this world and I like how you tied it all together for us! I hope your werk is wonderful! Blessings, Anne
I've not heard of this show but it sounds like one I'd adore!

I like so many of their series. Frontier House was probably my favorite.

I'm going to google this and see if i can record it!

Thanks for a great review and a possible favorite new TV show (if I can get the channel!)

And thanks for linking up to another round of Alphabe-Thursday!

A+ for you!
