We Forget So Easily!

It is so easy to get off track...I met with a young woman recently.  Her marriage had improved dramatically after being mentored but she forgot...She forgot to not be angry and annoyed with her husband.  She forgot she was called to respect and support him.  She forgot she was suppose to make his home a safe place to come home to...She wasn't happy at all.

All it took was a little reminder and she is back on track and happy again. Her husband is very happy again.  The Bible tells us to encourage one another daily because God knows how easy it is to forget.  This is why you must let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly.

This is why I write this blog.  I want to remind myself and anyone else who wants to listen.  It is so easy to get swept away in our emotions and feelings and do the wrong thing instead of do the God things...Love, accept, and forgive.

Ann Voskamp in her book One Thousand Gifts wrote ~

Do I really smother my own joy because
I believe anger achieves more than love?

That Satan's way is more powerful, more practical,
more fulfilling in my life than Jesus' way?

We need to keep renewing our mind with God's truth...This is what transforms us and reminds us to love others, accept others, be kind and gentle and at peace with all men, especially our husbands.

Continue to walk in the Spirit.  Feed the Spirit.  Nourish the Spirit with prayer, Bible reading, good sermons, fellowship with other believers.  Stop feeding your flesh.  It only leads to unhappiness.

Be perfect, be of good comfort,
be of one mind,  live in peace:
and the God of love and peace shall be with you.
2 Corinthians 13:11

Lori, I was just telling my husband how much I hope and pray that God will heal you rapidly and completely..............................because of selfish reasons. I need you to keep reminding me to die to my natural ways of being a wife, so that I can live in a supernatural way, God's way of being a wife to His gift to me, my dear, dear husband. May God pour out His richest blessings upon your life and health.

As always, Lori, the Lord uses you to remind me of things I, too, forget ~ even after 48 years of marriage! (Don't know how that happened because I'm only 36 ~ lol) I sent this to my daughter and daughters-of-love who are so very precious to me. I also sent it to two ladies whom the Lord has put in my life to encourage in Him. Even when we're in the Word, praying, and serving Him as best we can, there are times we (I) do things as a matter of habit ~ oh yes, good habits, but sometimes without the heart involved. Thank You, Lord, for using Lori as a reminder, as a gentle breeze that wafts across my heart and makes it tender again. Please, Precious Father, bless her and her family, heal her, level out her recovery so it goes smoothly, without the reactions she has been having of late, and most of all, pease keep any tumors from reoccurring anywhere in her body in the Wonderful Name of Jesus ~ Amen!
I love what you said here: "It is so easy to get swept away in our emotions and feelings and do the wrong thing instead of do the God things...Love, accept, and forgive." Amen, my friend! We need to keep doing the God things!!!!!

Thanks so much for reminding and encouraging us today. My mind and flesh think it's easier to do my thing, but I am not happy doing "my thing." So as you said, I need to keep being reminded to do God's thing.

I hope you are stabilizing and feeling better. I just read the post about your trip to the ER. Praying that you will heal quickly and that your body adapts quickly!
I'm sorry you had to go back to the ER, that is never fun. But I just trust that God has made your body to know what it needs to do, and that it will straighten itself out soon. I am sure you are surrounded by love and prayer and I am praying too, my sweet friend!

Thank you so much for linking this up today and reminding us to focus on the God things!
Lori, I am so forgetful!

I yearn so much to follow God more closely and put into practice different wisdom the Lord is teaching me. And then I forget and slip back into my old ways.

I'm so thankful that we live under grace and not by our works. I'm also grateful for the transforming power of God who does work in me that I can't do by myself.

Great post. Linked here from Hear it on a Sunday, Use it on a Monday. Blessings.
Dear Lori
And I think the most important thing we should never cease from doing and that is living in a deep intimate spiritual union with our God.
Blessings from Michelle's.

From one Lori to another, I appreciate the call to remember. I begin every day remembering and listing what God has done for me in the last 24 hours. It is humbling and serves to reorient us to how good God is, how much he loves us, and how wonderful he is.

I'm visiting from Hungry for God; Starving for Time today and glad I did.
Thank you for this. My husband is in the Army and every time he's gone I tell myself when he returns I will never take him for granted. But how easily I can still forget this. Daily life distracts or upsets...but you are o correct...when we are rooted in His word daily I realize how grateful I remain for all the blessings He has given us.
Visiting from Jolene's. Blessings to you.
