Denying Ungodliness And Worldly Lusts

Some people think that God's grace gives them the go ahead to sin since all of our sins have been forgiven the day we believe in Him.  His grace is sufficient and His blood has cleansed us from all sin.  So now we can sin, right?

For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men teaching us that denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present world.
Titus 2:11,12

So just the opposite is true.  Because of God's grace, we should live lives that are not characterized by sin but by holiness.  We are commanded to have nothing to do with ungodliness or worldly lusts.  We think these things are fun but they are not.  They take away our peace and our joy.

Peace and joy are wonderful things to have in your life.  Dwelling on the good, the pure, and the righteous brings peace and joy.

Everything you do and are entertained by should be good.  If it has any ungodliness or worldly lusts in it, have nothing to do with it.  Life is short.  Very short.  Spend your time wisely on this earth.  Let your lives be free from the things that entangle others and live in the freedom that Jesus provided.

What is the freedom He provided?  Freedom from sin.  We are free from sin.  Believe it.  You have the ability to say no to sin and live godly lives.  His power works mightily within you.  You can do ALL things through Him who strengthens you.  He tells you this.  I didn't make this up.

Romans 6 tells us many times that we are free from sin and dead to sin.  We are called saints now so start living like saints.  Stop playing in the mud that the world has to offer and start walking in the newness of life that Jesus died for so that you might have life and have it abundantly.

For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men...

Wow! I am going to have to research this. It really changes my viewpoint on the old argument about what we do with those who have never heard about Jesus. Thanks for this post, I am challenged. Oh, and I love the picture--so full of life and color and focus. I like focus.

I often think of the fact that grace teaches us to deny ungodliness.
Amen Lori!

Lori, I think one of the greatest heretical teachings of our time is that we need not fear God! Jesus told us not to fear those who may only kill our bodies but to fear God who can throw our bodies & souls into hell! When was the last time we heard anyone preach on that verse? I say we should listen carefully to what Jesus said & warn others as well! Love & prayers, in Jesus, Cynthia
Beautiful Photo!
His grace enables me to walk uprightly before Him. I mess up and fall into sin, but by His grace and his everlasting love, He sets me back again on the right path...on paths of righteousness for His glory. Thank you for linking up today. It's nice to "meet" you!
