From Good Girl To Very Bad

Parents are in an uproar over Miley Cyrus' recent performance.  {Any parents who allow their children to watch MTV should expect filth.}  I saw a glimpse of it and was deeply saddened.  We have watched Hannah Montana turn into a sex symbol.  Even Taylor Swift, who use to wear modest, beautiful dresses and sang about sweet love songs, is progressively becoming angrier and sexier.

Why does this happen over and over again?  Even nations founded upon biblical principles, ie, America, continually get worse and worse, allowing all kinds of things that were forbidden just twenty years ago.

Unless your life is deeply entrenched in God's Word, you are fodder for Satan.  The prince of the power of the air is alive and well and loves destroying people.

The world looks attractive and is continually offering up forbidden fruit:  adultery, sex before marriage, living together, dressing immodestly, overeating, lying, cheating, stealing, etc.  They all look fun and exciting before you take a bite and then afterwards, you discover the apple was poisoned.

God's ways work.  They are for our good.  Continually teach your children God's Word so they won't be enticed by the world's evil ways.  You, as their mother,  should be in the Word daily so you will be able to easily distinguish good from evil and teach your children well.  Most importantly, make sure your daughters know who they are in Christ and their immense value to the God.

Woe to those who call evil good and good evil,
who put darkness for light and light for darkness,
who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.
Isaiah 5:20

God's ways are good - AMEN.
Sadly it is making her more rich. Her song shot to the number one song downloaded from iTunes. She sold herself for money. So many people do. Horrible.
I was in shock myself and like you say; mostly sadden of what is going on with youth and singers specially, that they all seem to follow the footsteps of Madonna and her forever outragiuos videos, before and now! My little grandgirl when she turned 5 she had a theme birthday party and a group came to entertain 'like Hanna Montana'(she's 9 now) because she loved her and now, I hope she hasn't heard about this...it's a shame the values youth find and unfortunetely admire in these singers!!! We have to pray for the world in general. Thanks and hugs,

Todays female singers make Madonna look modest in comparison.
I am grieved, too, though not surprised. I saw many Christian families jump on the Hannah Montana bandwagon - and all the other 21st century Disney fare - with a heavy heart. I saw it as a lure that would eventually come back and swallow up a generation of children setting idols before themselves in their formative years that were so totally unworthy. As an example, I am a professional storyteller and was the guest performer at a children's birthday party - a Pastor's family, no less - and to see a room full of eight year olds dancing about all decked out like Hannah Montana and kissing pillows with Zach Ephron's (think I spelled his name wrong) face (where is that guy now?) and gyrating to HM music pretending they were her while eating off plates with her face on it as well as on their clothes and all manner of what-not - down to wearing HM wigs??? And, the mother in the same breath blessed God and Disney for such wholesome fun. I didn't see it that way. I saw a bad end. That eight year old is now in junior high and lives in a digital computer game screen with no social skills and treats her mother openly with disrespect - which, sad to say, is laughed at as "just the age." No - it was trained and expected with such fodder in formative years. Miley needs the Lord - and every young girl whom she was a force of influence on needs the Lord - that they might be set aright, imbued with truth, goodness, and beauty - and imitate only ONE who is worthy. May the Lord bring something good out of this tragic display. May eyes be opened and may people be more discerning so that children are not continually exploited in the way both Miley and her adoring fans are. Miley made bad choices - but every parent who allowed her the place of influence in their children's life made bad choices, too. That statement won't make me popular, but I have seen the fruit - in private homes and on school campuses - and I'm just calling it as it is. God - make your people wise in this evil time.

My husband and I don't support anything disney for much of the same reasons you listed. Two years ago we listened to a sermon done about disney and it opened our eyes to how evil disney really is, you can listen to it here if you want http://www.contendingfortruth.com/?p=1050 I'm just glad that parents are taking a stand.
I was so disappointed with Miley, it is so sad to see almost every young actress/singer go to the "dark side". One I can think of that seems to have stayed somewhat decent is Mandy Moore, who did the voice of Rapunzel in Tangled. I once saw an interview where she said she would never sell herself with sexiness and she would rather sacrifice fame than sell herself like that. I don't keep up with pop culture that much so I don't know if she has stayed true, but it seems like she has!

Jesus said, "The path to life is narrow & there are few who find it". I'm getting old & instead of getting upset, it all tends to make me sad. We must remember that the world loves it so & try to not be a part of what takes our focus away from Jesus. My personal prayer is to be revived again to long for Jesus' return as lately I've realized my focus is simply more on the world than Him. Love & prayers for you Lori, Cynthia
Sad stuff. Thanks for the reminder.
Its typical of most rich celebrities this days - nothing surprising at all.
Now I'm not a prude, in fact I'm a child of the 70 's with all that came with it but after reading about this performance I watched the video that was posted on YouTube. I'm not sure what I saw. Nothing about it made sense. What is this alien looking bear, a guy in a striped suit looking like something out of a nightmare, the insane dancing and tongue wagging ? I don't "get it," it wasn't really a song. My priest once told me that the popularity of music like this gets the kids accustomed to those sounds and images. One day, when they need to make the choice, they may gravitate towards those very sounds and images that are now so comfortable to them and may find themselves choosing Hell. That makes sense to me. There was nothing good about that performance.
Good post. It is the battle of natures. For those in Christ it requires staying open to God, for those outside, the only option is to seek validity and value in lesser things that will fail. Miley is unfortunately going through that right in front of us. http://choosetotrust.com/2013/09/miley-cyrus-and-...
Yes, it was disappointing to see Miley but are we really surprised by this?! A society that blurts the lines of morality and dabbles in moral relativism will see this and more as a result. And why aren't we also shocked by lady gaga's performance, who is just a few years older than Miley? Or by the singer robin Thicke who was singing the vulgar lyrics to his song while Miley was dancing. He is a husband and father but he clearly doesn't mind getting rich off of the same vulgarity we see Miley, Taylor swift and others flaunting!

Disappointing!!!
