John Wayne Got It

Barbara Walters did an interview with John Wayne three months before he died on February 20, 1979. "He was so masculine and straightforward...," Barbara said.

Barbara ~ "Do you feel that in a relationship the man should be
the boss, the macho..."

John Wayne ~ "Well, if this country had stayed the way it was, if we hadn't made it so tough for a family to keep up their type of living, their wives didn't have to go to work, I think it would be more pleasant. I think it would be more pleasant for the lady as well."

Barbara ~ "For the man to go to work and the lady to stay home?"

John ~ nodding his head, "For the man to go to work
and the lady to have her other interests, political, bridge,..."

Barbara ~ "Oh you are going to be in trouble! What if I said to you,
'Duke, you have your little life, play bridge.."

John ~ interrupting her, "Good! I'll go play bridge and
you go do the work. That's fine with me. I love bridge."

Although I don't teach that women should be at home so they can play bridge, he did understand the harm society faced when women left their homes and went into the workforce. He believed it to be "more pleasant for the lady" to be at home instead of away from it. Working full-time and trying to take care of a home and family has caused devastation on the institution of marriage, the family, and society as I have stated many times. It is just refreshing to hear it from a masculine man who didn't care about being politically correct and was around long enough to see the harm feminism had on women and society.

You {Satan} are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and has nothing to do with the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
John 8:44

I am very thankful that I did get to stay home. Yet I realize that we have nurses, counsellors, teachers, office administrators, cancer clinics, women's clothing stores - there's many positions that need to be filled and are geared for female employees. We need to pray for guidance before we just settle on working outside of the home. With that comes guidelines - how much time outside of the home? Today is Black Friday in the States (and this is now coming into Canada as well.) I would think that most of the stuff purchased is just stuff which will find it's way into thrift stores in the near future. If we work to gather needless stuff, then we'd better rethink what we're doing.

We were just talking about all the sales today and I said, "I don't need anything!" We all have so much that we should be careful of buying things just to buy things.
Not an exciting comment but I really like this. All of my female relatives are feminists and I can't think of any men who like or anyone who wants to be around them. I love being home and don't know if I could handle the stress of working again. (I am a former nurse) Even my grandmother went to work after her youngest was in kindergarten. This was in the fifties. These relatives belittle my daughter and myself for just wanting to be stay at wives and mothers.

I hope you never let their words bother you, Christy, for you are right where the Lord has called you..."keepers at home." It is the BEST place to be!
Well you know I'm going to like a post on John Wayne! Thanks Lori. Great as always. In Christ, Robert
This post made me laugh because of how timely it was. My husband was doing John Wayne impressions at Thanksgiving dinner yesterday and we were all cracking up. He loves John Wayne!
Hello, I think we have all seen the effects of all the ladies leaving their homes and children!
Being a keeper of the home is so much more than what is in each room, but rather what is being done in the hearts of those children and our Husbands who need a place to find a reprieve from the busy crazy world.
I loved that movie with John called the Quiet Man...
Blessings, Roxy
