The Battle of the Hormones

Men battle testosterone.  Women battle estrogen.  Men battle their sexual nature.  Women battle their emotional nature.  One battle isn't worse than the other.  They are just both different.  Children need to be warned of this so they can be prepared.  When you know you are going into battle, you can go into it prepared to fight.

Teach them that they "can do all things through Christ who strengthens them" and "greater is He who is in them, than he who is in the world."

Teach them to do their part, and God will do His.

Teach them to "flee sexual temptation" and  to "give no occasion to the flesh."

Teach them to renew their minds with God's truthTherefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God--this is your spiritual act of worship.  Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will.  (Romans 12:1,2)

Teach them they have a choice every day to walk in obedience or disobedience.

Teach them that the family of God is there to help them in their temptations...to hold them accountable, to encourage them...They are not on their own in their battle.

Teach them to speak words that are uplifting and encouraging, rather than words that tear others down.

Teach them to confess their sins to others and pray for each other.  Sin grows in darkness.   Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. (James 5:16)

Teach them to choose to be joyful and happy, even when they feel grumpy.  Remind them that it is a choice.

The battle can be won!  You do your part and God will do His part.
