Keeping The Home

"Keeping the Home" is more than staying home;  it is having a heart that is fixed on the home...She will guard the home against outside influences, and she will always be on watch to protect the children from their own inventions of evil.  She will not be idle and neither will her children.
Debi Pearl

This subject is an important one to me as you can tell if you have been reading my blog for any time at all.  As society gets darker, children need more protection.  Protection from predators, from evil influences, and from bad habits.

God must think it is important too, since most of the directives He gives to women in the Bible revolve around the home.  Healthy families build healthy societies.

Children left alone get in trouble.  They need godly influences in their lives consistently pointing out to them the right way to live..."training them in the way they should go."  Be careful with the friends you allow them to hang out with, what they watch on television, and what they are doing alone in their bedrooms.  Protect them.  They will thank you someday for it.

The Bible commands us to  ~

Flee fornication. Every sin that a man does is without the body; but he that commits fornication sins against his own body
I Corinthians 6:18

Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart
II Timothy 2:22

So teach your children to flee evil.  Don't let them mess around with it at all or they may be wrestling with it the rest of their life.  Teach them to love holiness and purity and to want to walk in love.  Life will be so much easier for them if you train them while they are young to be good.

This world needs salt and light very badly.

We do have a big job, don't we?
OK< so I can share a favorite quote of MINE! LOL

Kids get mad when I say you can not hang around with so and so....

Their response:
You can't tell me who I can be friends with!!!

My response:
That's right! You can be friends with any one you choose but you can only hang around with who I say it's OK to hang out with. A nice smile from me and a huge huiff in exasperation from them.

LOL

Keep 'em busy and you'll keep 'em out of trouble!

Have a wonderful day!

That is really good, Christie. You just need to keep reminding them who is in charge! :)
Great reminder . . . it is not easy, but it is a wonderful thing to see the Spirit of God work within your child and the teachings you have provided them take root in their lives. It is a joy to see their hate of sin and their love of Christ. There is no greater reward.
Blessings,
Cherie
No, it is not easy but the rewards are great and worth it! Training takes hard work but anything worthwhile in life takes hard work.

Christie's comment above regarding your children's friends reminds me of a saying our Pastor tells the students in our church "Show me your friends, and I'll show you your future" - oh, how true. You will start to act like the ones you hang around with - no matter what the age. If we hang around negative people, we will eventually start acting like them, etc.

I just recently found your blog and I LOVE it! I enjoy checking it out each day and reading your words of wisdom : ) Blessings to you and your family!

We are known by the company we keep. Thank you for reading my blog! I love writing it.
This is the most difficult thing and yet the MOST rewarding! Thank YOU.
Wonderful! And our job doesn't diminish as they grow older. In fact, I think our influence is even more needed as they become teenagers and twenty-somethings. It really is a life-long task!
Training is definitely not an easy task, but God will give us what we need when we are called to do it! :)
Well written, thank you for the encouragement!
What wonderful encouragement. God has been placing the desire to pursue holiness in all that I do. Some days, I do well and some days not so but God is faithful!

Blessings,

Gina
This post was very encouraging. As Christian Homemakers, we always need to be mindful of protecting our loved ones from the evil influences of the world, particularly if we have children.

Great Post! :)

Sweet sweet post - very near and dear to my heart!
Love this! I was just journaling yesterday for us to b salt and light in such a dark world. It is hard with the myriad of influences.

Visiting from Serenity Now.

Blessings,

I love Debbi Pearls book 'Created to Be His Helpmeet'. though I dont agree with quite all of her sentiments. I just thought I would comment and mention that at times, though we would rather be home, we woman are needed to go to work as well. This job of being a Keeper at home can become much harder when you have the added stress and things taking your attention away from what it should be on. So for anyone with the working woman in their lives, dont forget to pray for them concerning this issue!
