God Fearing Families

The Bates Family is going to have their own reality show that is similar to the Duggers.  Ken taped Nightline for me the other night that showed a glimpse into the Bates' lives.  The Duggers are good friends of theirs and they would visit the Bates Family.

The Bates are expecting their 19th child.  I am always amazed when I watch these two families.  They trust God!!!  They trust God with their family size and they trust God to provide for them.  Both families walk with Jesus.

The wives are gentle, kind, and joyful.  You can tell that they are submissive to their husbands because their husbands seem like good, strong leaders.  The husbands lead the families in singing and Bible reading.  I love watching the interaction between the couples.  It is the way it is suppose to be.

All the children appear happy and work hard.  I haven't noticed any arguing among the siblings but instead, kindness and love.

Neither family accepts any kind of governmental assistance.  The Bates family said they would easily qualify for it but they work hard and enjoy watching God's provision for them.

I am happy they are on television.  The stereotypical American family today is two children who argue all the time.  Parents {if there are two of them which is getting more uncommon} that argue and complain.  All they pursue is more stuff and time alone on their iPad, computer, or television.

Both families told TLC they would only be televised if their open love for Jesus was filmed.  Neither family even has a television.

I think America needs a lot more families like the Bates and the Duggers than the Kardashians and Housewives shows.  I wish I had families like this that were a strong, godly model for me when I was younger.  I was fed the lie that I should use birth control and try controlling my life and circumstances as much as possible instead of working hard, loving others, and trusting God.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths.
Proverbs 3:5,6

You know, I never have seen the Duggar's show! I don't watch much TV but I might have to look this one up on Netflix. I haven't heard of the Bates. But they both sound like wonderful families!
That is so exciting! I have 'Dugger withdraws' when they are 'out-of-season'....lol. This gives me another show to relax with and not feel guilty for watching. Love, Love, Love both of these families! Just curious....who is the family in the pic?
Lori, I do hope you are feeling better physically and your pain is better. I have been too busy with work and family to comment much in the last month, but every post you have written has been a blessing to me. I, too, enjoy watching the Duggars. Michelle is so genuinely sweet and joyful. I think that with so many other dysfunctional families on TV, it is nice to see a Christian family in the mix. If a family is going to choose to put their families and personal lives on TV, I think the Duggars are doing it in the best way possible. But I do have reservations about any child being filmed and their lives put out to the public when they are not old enough to fully understand the possible consequences. This doesn't stop me from watching the Duggars, and I do think God is using this family for good, but my legal brain can't help but feel a bit hesitant when parents put their children and private family moments on TV for compensation.
I'm looking forward to the Bates family show! I also enjoy the Duggers' show. :)

The Bates already had #19. It was a special a few months back.
Ive never watched the Duggers but maybe I"ll watch the Bates and I agree with everything you posted.. I wish I had come from a larger family but what I lacked in siblings was surely made up for in the parents I was blessed with..
I can't wait...they are so sweet! We are huge Duggar fans as well.
It is wonderful that these families are allowed to be on tv. We do not watch tv. maybe we can get a video of them. We only have 9 children and you can only survive if you work hard and trust in God.
I adore watching these families because of their faith. It is the one show I can watch and feel completely uplifted!

I think these families are wonderful! All glory to God alone! Love the verse about trust. Love & prayers in Jesus, Cynthia
Thank you for linking up for Big Family Friday. I love the Duggars and the Bates. We don't have cable. We did find out that we can watch entire episodes of the Duggars on YouTube. :) I'm SO glad that the Bates are starting their own series too.

While I like the Duggar and Bates families, I don't particularly care for the way TLC shows seem to take advantage of people, and hope that does not turn out to be the case with this show/family. I believe that the Duggar and Bates families are wonderful examples of wholesome living, and I hope that the profile of the Bates family proves to be as open and respectful as the Duggar family's show has been.
The best family bundle is worshiping God.
