FLEE Sexual Immorality!!!

Most men don't seem to take that admonition from the Bible too seriously.  I think that is part of the reason there is so much adultery and pornography within the church...

We were at a week long conference with the Pearls years ago.  Michael Pearl told us he never goes to beaches, malls, movies, and has never looked at pornography.  He takes this command very seriously.  I admire that!

Most Christian women wear bikinis and think nothing about it.  They say that if a man lusts after them, it is their problem.  Some will say I am legalistic in my views about this.  An honest, hot-blooded, heterosexual male will tell you that women in bikinis turn them on...They love seeing women in bikinis.  God built them that way.

When Adam and Eve sinned in the garden and saw they were naked, they covered themselves with fig leaves.  God covered them with coats.

Yes, in some countries women aren't allowed to show their ankles, blah, blah, blah...That is no excuse for Christian women, here in America, to show everything but their privates and think it is okay...

I wore bikinis when I was in high school but I never felt very comfortable in them.  I felt kinda naked...ashamed.  Now I see that was the Spirit's convicting me.

Men don't "fall" into sin...They walk into it.  This is why God's tells them to  FLEE  sexual immorality.  If you go to a beach and there are women in thongs and bikinis...FLEE!  If you go to a movie and there are sexual scenes...FLEE!  Don't play with burning coals or you will be burned...

Stop compromising...If you want true joy and peace in your life, start walking in obedience and live to please the Lord.  Teach your sons at an early age to flee sexual immorality.  Teach your daughters to dress modestly and how a man's mind works.  Look and act different than the world.  Be radical in your faith!

Here is a picture of a modest bathing suit...They do make them and they are much more comfortable.  Being covered is a good thing!

Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body.

I wear a bathing suit similar to this and you can't imagine how I get made fun of. Actually, they wouldn't want to see me in something less modest; still, I'm amazed at what I see these days! We are rural and live near the pretty Missouri rivers where we spend time on the sandbars with family and neighbors barbecuing, wading and fishing. You should see all these women that on canoe float trips that have nearly nothing on and covered in multiple tattoos top to bottom, evil looking tattoos too, not flowers or butterflies. Their language is awful as well, even in front of children, using the worst or the worst. It seems that anything goes these day. My husband made a conscious decision to not look at porn in movies or magazines but sometimes a nice adventure movie throws in a sex scene- just because??? Not even pertinent to the story line. It's difficult to even watch TV these days so we often watch the History Channel, news or the kid channels even though we don't have children.
I wear a cute rash guard with board shorts for my swimming suit. I feel like I'm out of the movie Soul Surfer! I look sporty, sleek, and I can play in the water with my kids without feeling like I'm going to be exposed. It's another way to be modest, look cool, and a bit different than the regular suitwear out there.
That is my style! :)
The swim suite that is! lol
That bathing suit is really cute. Great post.
I found your blog through the Raising Homemakers link-up, and I want you to know that I have gone through many of your posts and am glad to have read them. I am looking forward to reading more.
I wear a similar swim suit style but my biggest problem is finding a suit that covers me up top completely. I wish they made them better for those of us with this issue. Great post, by the way!
Hey 1895 called and they want their puritanical views back.
I enjoyed your post, Charity. Thank you for writing it!
Sorry, I mean Lori. :-)
I liked this. I was just reading about that yesterday, after a discussion with a good friend. And the suit looks great. If I were able to, that's the sort of thing I would choose. I tried to were bikini's in high school, too. But it just wasn't something I could get used to. Now? I'm allergic to the sun. So I'm looking for fashionable (not that I care about fashion), modest, if not slightly bizarre (hey! If they're going to laugh, I'll give them something to really laugh about!).
God made women beautiful. He doesn't make junk. It's us that decides that, and everybody has their opinion as to what that is (now, don't get all wired. I still have a tattoo from years ago, no excuses. ...like I'm all that...). But beauty shows, and is shown, in many ways. I don't have to hang my... yeah... out to show it. Though at my age now, they'd call the police.
My friend, a Christian and a professional model, laughs still that I can't seem to get out of the Victorian Era. But she told me the other day to stick to my guns. I think it's on her mind more than she'll admit.
Thank you for the article. Very good.
God bless,
~Rhonnie
That bathing suit is absolutely beautiful. To tell the truth, I wear more than that. I wear a tech dri shirt to keep from getting sun burnt. I also now wear swim shorts. I love that I have pockets and put my id and keys in them.
finding a swim top that isn't low cut is so hard locally! It's also hard to order a swim top online not knowing sizing. Not to mention the more modest the swimsuit the more expensive in my experience. I have a decent one this year, but next year I will be looking for a more appropriate top to go with my shorts bottoms.
Thanks for this post! My husband is the same way as your dad. He will not look at women in general. He just prefers to look at me! :-) I hope the decent swim suit style comes back. They are available, but you need to search for them. I got my last one at Ross, but I understand Kohls carries a modest style too.
And that is actually a pretty suit! Men should also take care though. We were just at a big Christian Leadership Summet. The youngest of the men who got up to speak had on really tight jeans. The young women next to me had come out of a background of sexual addictions before she became a Christian two years ago. She couldn't even look at him as it distracted her and caused bad thoughts. So, it goes for men too: They need to dress modestly.
I actually like that bathing suit! I wear a tankini top with a skirt bottom -- I feel so much more comfortable dressed that way anyway
I found you on the Monday Mingle Hop and I'm following you now. Thanks for boldly sharing your faith.
great, relevant post. and i think it raises a lot of questions about what activities we can choose to participate in simply due to the environment. we don't have the "right" to be somewhere if it compromises our values and beliefs, but many aren't willing to make that sacrifice.
This is great. We need to do our part in being modest, and as your lovely picture shows, you can still look attractive without showing everything. :D
I think modesty is so important. I also feel that since I have two young daughters, I must model appropriate dress for them. Even at 7 and 5, we are talking about modesty.
Thanks so much for dropping by the Monday Mingle Blog Hop! Your GFC widget is not working, let me know if I'm already following you. I hope you'll stop by
again soon! Have a great day! :)

P.S. I would love to connect on Facebook too, if we haven't already. http://facebook.com/toughcookiemommy
