The Value of Siblings

Here are the four children the Lord has blessed me with. Ken and I would have liked four more but I was too sick.  Siblings are awesome!  There is definitely a bond between them.  I think that bond is called blood.

Cassi went through a couple of difficult days lately.  The first thing she did was call Steven and they talked for 20 minutes.  He encouraged her and gave her wise counsel.   The next day she went up and spent the day with Alyssa.  That afternoon she went on a long walk with Erin.  It warms my heart to see her run to her siblings for comfort and help during difficult times.

My sisters and I were not that close growing up. I was bossy and controlling and they didn't like that...Imagine that. In the past year, however, we have gotten very close and it is wonderful. I am sad it took that long but with me being so sick for such a long time, it didn't help.

But God definitely restores the years the locusts have eaten and we're enjoying each other now. In fact, in September we are going to NYC for five days with my mom. A first for all of us to go on a trip together all grown up!

If you were blessed with siblings, love them and if there is disharmony, do whatever you can to create peace.  Family is a wonderful gift from God.

Finally, all of you be of one mind, having compassion for one another; love as brothers, be tenderhearted, be courteous.
I Peter 3:8

P.S.  If any of you are from NYC and know of good hotels near Soho or the Financial District, could you tell me about them?  We want two rooms with two double beds and not outrageously expensive in a four star hotel...Is that asking too much??? :)

All 4 are completely gorgeous people - and I'm sure inside as well as out. How sweet :)
I was reading this while my mom was just here and we both agree you have beautiful children! And there is something in their eyes that tells me they are beautiful inside also. I love this post because it speaks to one of the biggest issues I have in my life right now. I only have one brother and for years we were at odds. We are finally starting to rebuild that relationship but it will be a long time before we can get to that point before our disagreement. But I pray that in time we will get there. Thank you so much for these words.
Very handsome children! Have a great trip to NY, my hometown...I guess it'll be dry from Irene by then. Wishing a great week. FABBY
God has blessed me beyond my imagination:D!!! I adore my family! Thanks for raising such God-fearing siblings that I can run to in hard times! LOVEEEEEEEEEEE YOUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!!!
What BEAUTIFUL children you have been blessed with- WOW!
Oh, how your post has blessed me! I have four of my own - two boys and two girls ages 7 down to 1. The picture of your four grown warms my heart. Siblings are such a gift and prayer is that my children will be close, too.
We stayed at the Hampton Inn in Soho. It was nice. I think it was 2 beds for $200 a night. They had an included breakfast bar (nice one, not just dry pastries). They held luggage as much as you needed before check-in and after check-out. It was close to the Subway.
What a wonderful statement on siblings. There's no one like your own brother or sister to talk things over with. Mine are spread across the northern hemisphere and I miss them. That's why I write about the years we spent growing up. It brings them closer . . .
I don't think I really began to appreciate just how important siblings are until my only sister died unexpectedly at age 49. A part of my history - and my heart - went with her.

I had 7 siblings. We are all very close. One of my brothers died unexpectedly in January at age 51. It has been difficult for all of use. He lived with one of my sisters and her husband. It is hard but we have eachother. I say continue to trust in the Lord!
What a sweet post! What a handsome family. :) Blessings to them and you!
I remind my children often that friends come and go throughout your life; the lasting, life-long relationships are among siblings. My husband and I both have many regrets regarding our siblings, and we really want to spare our children that heartache. Your children are beautiful! :)
I am so thankful for my own siblings (also a family of two boys and two girls). After living in Florida, so far away, for six years it's been a huge blessing to get to be physically close to them again. What a joy!
Oh what a beautiful testimony of God's faithfulness! Your children are all so beautiful. are so blessed. I think you know that...

Hope your day is blessed!
What a great brood of good-looking "kids" you have! Aside from the gift of salvation, I believe families are God's greatest gift to mankind.
What beautiful children! I have two boys and they look NOTHING alike! :)

Blessings,
Melanie

How wonderful to be blessed with children. I have 2 sisters and have/had 4 brothers. One brother is still with us and all three of us sisters are so bonded. Always have been a close family. We all share the same heart genes..LOL! Your children look so happy and enjoying each other and you are having another chance to be with your own sisters and mom..that is such a gift. Enjoy your time together!
Gives me hope! I have 6 kids (2 girls and 4 boys, ages 2-12) and am often dismayed by the constant bickering. I pray that as they get older, they will cease the arguing and develop a strong affection for one another. I think they are close even now, but that the bickering is perhaps normal at their ages? I don't know, but it drives me nuts and sometimes worries me. I want so much for them to be close.

Your young adult children are a very handsome bunch!
I have two sons and the bond between my boys is strong. But the bond between them is not blood. It is love. They may not share the same genes but they are 100% brothers.
Your kids are beautiful... your girls look like twins! That's so neat that they are so close, I have two little ones now 7 and 4 and I'm hoping to have many more. I hope the others are closer together in age! {They are adopted so I really couldn't choose the age lol}
