Happy Christians

The best argument for Christianity is Christians...their joy, their certainty, their completeness but the strongest argument against Christianity is also Christians - when they are sombre and joyless, when they are self-righteous and smug in complacent consecration, when they are narrow and repressive, then Christianity dies a thousand deaths.
Sheldon Vanauken

So many Christians are joyless.  They think having fun is a sin or they live in a constant state of worry and frustration.  They think you must live a serious life to be holy or they simply do not trust God with their lives.  I am not sure what Bible they are reading, but I don't find being joyless and unhappy anywhere in Scripture.  I find  ~

Happy is that people, that is in such a case: yea, happy is that people, whose God is the LORD
Psalm 144:15

Happy is he that has the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God
Psalm 146:5

If you are reproached for the name of Christ, happy are you; for the spirit of glory and of God rests upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of , but on your part he is glorified
I Peter 4:14

So be happy!  Our hope is in the Lord.  He is our strength and our shield.  Count your many blessing, name them one by one...
