Seeking God's Will

Ryan and Erin are looking for a home.  They have six month old baby and would love to find a place to call "home."  They thought they found one:  brand new, on a hill, sunny, three bedrooms, three baths, affordable.  They put an offer on it and Ryan was going to sign the papers and put a deposit down on it.  BUT GOD!

They have been praying earnestly about this, so have we.  They wanted God's will in this whole situation, since He knows best.  On the morning that Ryan was suppose to sign the papers, they were told something that was a deal breaker.  God slammed the door shut and we were so happy!

We want God to direct our lives.  He knows so much better than us.  We ask God to shut every door but the right one, confident that He will guide our lives if we just ask.

Ryan and Alyssa earnestly sought the Lord in prayer for their spouses.  God answered their prayers and gave them the perfect spouse for each of them.

Steven sought the Lord in prayer about dental school.  God put him at a school he loves. Now he is seeking His will for orthodontic school, confident that God will lead Him to the right one.

Seeking God's will is the most wonderful way to go.  He is sovereign.  He knows a lot better than we do.

When people ask me how they know the will of God,  I encourage them to pray about everything, measure their requests with God's Word, seek wise counsel,  and then move forward.  God will close the doors He wants shut and opens the doors He wants open.

I have seen His faithfulness in this area time and time again.  He is so good!

And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.  Hebrews 11:6

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.  Matthew 6:33

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Proverbs 3:5,6

P.S.  That isn't the home they were thinking of buying in the picture above.  I just thought it was a pretty house and am playing around with adding pictures to my blog from the internet!
