The Happy Duggers

Have you ever noticed how happy this family is wherever they go?  Michelle just announced that she is pregnant with her 20th baby and the whole family is excited for this new life.

People are very critical towards her.  How could she possibly want to bring another life into this populated world?  I can answer that.  We need more people like the Duggers in this world.

Their motto is to love God and love others and they live it.  They are trained to work hard and not complain.  They will contribute mightily to this society.  They won't be asking for government handouts.

I have watched their show for a long time.  The camera men say that what you see is what you get.  The children are never fighting.  They love being a part of a big family.  They have family devotions every day...reading God's Word and praying.

There is Scripture calligraphy on the walls of their home.  They give to the community.  They pass out cookies to the firemen and policemen and then thank them for their hard work.  They go to places that have been hurt by tornadoes and help.

We need people like the Duggers.  This world needs people like them.  All the people that are critical of them, I am just curious how happy they are with life.  Most critical people I know are very unhappy people.  A grateful heart that trusts in God and His provision and leading is usually a happy person.

I love the Duggers.  I am happy that people are able to see a family living out God's Word.  They are an example of what Christians should look like...loving, serving, and pleasing others.  They are content in life and loving God.

Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.
Luke 10:27

Love this post. I couldn't agree more!
I agree with you Lori, the only thing I have noticed and noticed it again this week is that the kids have a hard time explaining why they do and believe the things that they do. I would pray as I raise my son that he would be able to explain to others why he does or does not do something. I understand that the younger kids might not know how to explain it but I have seen the older kids stumble over the questions. In this world we need to be able to explain to others what we believe and why we beleive it.
I'll never forget when Michelle was in the hospital with complications with Josie and Jim Bob looked right into the camera and said something like, "Yes we're scared, but we're still praising God." That was when I knew this family was the real deal. What a witness.
Yes, they are such an amazing gift and example of hope and family heroism!
I would suggest "To Train Up A Child" by Michael Pearl. We read it years ago and it was exactly how we raised our children. Ken never allowed our children to fight. He told them that Alexanders didn't fight. They were best friends! The Pearls raised five great children.
(I have edited out the links as an individual's thoughts are welcome here but thoughts from other blogs with which I totally disagree should not be shoved onto my blog. Thanks for your understanding.)

Amy posted,
Before you run out to grab a copy of "To Train Up a Child", please read up on the controversies surrounding Michael Pearl’s book. He and his wife profess to know all about child rearing, yet have no formal education. They advocate spanking children with plumbing supply pipe, belts, etc.

Please consider a safer, gentler way of disciplining your children. I recommend the following books:
The Discipline Book: How to Have a Better-Behaved Child From Birth to Age Ten
The No-Cry Discipline Solution: Gentle Ways to Encourage Good Behavior Without Whining, Tantrums, and Tears
Discipline without Shouting or Spanking
I don't believe in father's spanking their daughters. My father never spanked me and my husband never spanked our daughters. We had 2 daughters and four sons. I believe the Bible speaks of father/son discipline (between the ages of 10-19). I believe the Bible teaches men are adults at 20(I Chron.23:24,27; Exodus 30:14, Num.1:45,Num.14:29KJ). Our daughters-in-law grew up in families with three children(1 son,2 daughters). They were never spanked, etc. Our 5 granddaughters-ages 5 months to 4 years-will not be spanked by our 3 sons.
I LOVE the Duggar family and all that they stand for. There are very few shows on tv that show a loving, Christian family going through daily life and all that their Christian walk entails. I have found so much encouragement from them and I pray all goes well with this pregnancy and any others that may come after!
As for the comment about the older kids stumbling over their responses to why they do what they do...I really had to laugh because, at 42, I constantly stumble over what I am trying to say. I know WHAT I want to say but sometimes it just doesn't come out!
What a wonderful family. They are living their faith with integrity. They are responsible and an inspiration.
Love them and their example to our society!! Read their books too, they are just as good!
Amen to that!
so excited for them. I love the smile on there faces
They say that children are a gift from god. But it seems to me that they are abusing that gift. How are you suposed to make heach child feel special and loved when you have 20 of them running around. Theres bound to be one left out! Like in Cheaper by the Dozen the one little boy never felt a part of the family because he had so many siblings. PEOPLE THERE IS SUCH THING AS BIRTH CONTROL.
This family is a great inspiration for Christian families. They set high moral standards for their children to follow. In a day's time, Michelle (as well as the older girls) homeschool the children. Each has a time with their mother. People often say the older ones are raising the younger ones but what's the difference in siblings caring for eachother under their parents watch or sending your kid to school for 8-10 hours a day if not more. As God told Noah to shelter his family from the flood, we are called to shelter our children from evil. I'd rather have 20 more Christians running around this world. Good job Jim, Michelle and all the Duggar family. Praying for the family as they grieve after this loss of the 20th baby.
