Make The Most Of Yourself

The author recommends making the most of your hair, your figure, and your health as the seventh secret in Secrets Of Fascinating Womanhood.  Since men are highly visual, it is important to stay nice looking for them.  We should want to stay beautiful for him!

You can't separate a man from his sexuality.  It's interwoven into his nature.  It's a constant part of him.  When women combine cheerful enthusiasm, child-like humility, femininity, staying in shape, and appealing hair, she becomes a highly delightful creature to a man, almost irresistible especially when she smiles.  {I like that part!}

The author then goes on to explain how important hair is to a man.  She states that most men like hair to be longer than theirs but recommends you ask your husband how he likes your hair best.

She discusses weight loss a lot and says that diets don't work.  Staying in shape must become a lifestyle.  Her hints for staying in shape ~

Exercise at least one half hour a day, six days a week.

Eat a light dinner and no eating before bed.

Eat very few sweets and never binge on sweet foods

Eat food the way God made it.

Weigh yourself everyday.

Go to bed early and wake up early.

Get plenty of fresh air.  Leave your windows open as much as possible.

Don't get angry or worry.  Live one day at a time.

Smile and choose to be joyful!

Don't be one of those women who lets themselves go as soon as she gets married.  We are to be known for our moderation and self-control.  Looking great for our husbands is good motivation.  They will really appreciate it especially when it is combined with a gentle and quiet spirit.

Let your moderation be known unto all men.  The Lord is at hand
Philippians 4:5

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,  gentleness and self-control.
Galatians 5:22

Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight.
I Peter 3:4

I agree with this post completely ... not to mention the fact that I naturally feel better and am happier when I am doing these things. Now that I am 40, my lifestyle includes taking care of this body God gave me. And, my motivation is that my husband think I am sexy. It does take effort. But the effort is worth it. (And, unfortunately, by looking around it doesn't appear there is a whole lot of effort going on in our society today.)
My husband thinks I'm sexy!

I think the way we care for the appearance of our bodies has to be a compromise between how our bodies are an important part of our self-expression as well as a pleasure for a husband to look at... I worry that becoming too focused on people-pleasing in marriage might become unhealthy. There are so many good reasons to take good care of ourselves!

I think eating balanced and filling meals and sensible snacks, while weighing one's self every week or two would be much more moderate, sensible (and healthy) advice for the long-term management of a woman's figure.

Some very good points!
I fail at exercise, which is ironic b/c I was a college athlete. Still, through wise food choices and constant motion during the day I have been able to keep the "middle age spread" at bay. While I would prefer a shorter hair cut, my husband likes it long, so long it stays :-). He works with several women and he is appalled at how they dismiss their husbands' preferences and opinions as stupid or laughable. Money is so tight (a trip to the thrift store for new clothes would be a huge treat!) but I still fix my hair and put on make up every day just to greet him with a smile when he comes home. I love that he finds me beautiful and sexy even after I have acquired many stretch marks and a few wrinkles. Knowing this also helps me want to meet his needs no matter how tired I am at the end of the day.
An interesting post. some food for thought.
LOVE THIS!

So true, and our bodies our God's temple....so we should honor our God with the treatment of our bodies. Plus when I eat junk I don't feel attractive or fit or happy. Then I am no good for me or for anyone else for that matter. Jesus said, "Love you neighbor as yourself"......Love YOURSELF....then you will have all the energy and compassion and health you need to love and take care of your neighbor.

Just some quick thoughts....wanted to stay up with the comments on this post.
