Build Houses and Dwell in Them!

Whenever God took His people some place new,
He would instruct them this way ~

Build ye houses, and dwell in them; and plant gardens, and eat the fruit of them; Take wives and become the fathers of sons and daughters, and take wives for your sons and give your daughters to husbands, that they may bear sons and daughters; and multiply there and do not decrease. {Jeremiah 29:6}

Yet today, it seems most believe that they should buy homes and not dwell in them; women should leave their homes all day to work for somebody else. Only take a wife if you "feel" like it but it's better to test her out first by having sex and living with her, then have children only if you "want" them. Has God's Word to us changed? NO!

He still wants us to have homes and dwell in them. He wants us to marry and bear children. I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, guide the house, give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully. {1 Timothy 5:14}

We no longer need to build homes since we have many capable men building them for us. We are not the Israelites who are settling in barren, empty lands. We also don't need to plant gardens anymore since there are others who do this for us. {However, many Christians are going back to the land to farm and raise their own food for health purposes, to know what exactly is in the food they're consuming and for protection against an unstable economy.}

God still wants us to marry and bear children. This has never changed nor will it ever until the day He returns in the clouds to take us to our brand new home that He has prepared for us. {Can you even begin to imagine that home when everything truly beautiful in this world is His creation? Even on the new earth, we will live in homes.} Don't ever be afraid to have children due to the wicked society we live in. When Jesus walked this earth, He called it a faithless and perverse generation over 2,000 years ago! We build mighty armies for the Lord by raising godly offspring. This is what He calls godly women to do!

God's Word is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. When a godly man finds you and wants to marry you, marry him. As soon as you are married and you want to have children, have them. If you continue to have children and people mock you, know that you are pleasing the Lord and your children are blessings from Him.

This is an excellent post and very encouraging, Lori! Thank you for writing this; I'm glad it was one of the first things I saw this morning.

I've heard women say they don't want to bring children into the world because it is so messed up right now and some unmarried people I know are even more discouraged because of the recent SCOTUS ruling. I've actually shown them the verses you reference above and told them that, because of the dark, sinful days we're living in, that is precisely WHY God wants women to marry, bear children, and guide the house. The godly seed the Lord desires, raised by parents in the nurture and admonition of the Lord, combats the wickedness that has become "normal" in so many people's eyes today. It is a blessed wonder to see Christians obeying the Lord in the way they live and it gives reason for hope. God bless you! :-)

Women were frightened about having babies when I was having them! The world has always been a frightening place because of the prince of the power of the air who is pure evil. Thank you for encouraging other young women, Lady Virtue!
Thank you for this encouraging post, Lori! Keep up the wonderful writing!

Great post. The Lord has blessed me with a godly wife and 7 godly children. 4 kids have already married (to godly spouses) and all have children being raised in godly homes (6 grands with one on the way!) I am a very blessed man. Thank you Jesus!

You are one very blessed man, Dennis, and I've had the privilege of getting to know one of your daughters and she is extremely wise and sure knows her Bible!
I agree with, Lady Virtue. A great post, for such a time as this. God bless. xo

Thank you, Cassie! {I have a daughter named Cassi!}
I was thinking about the houses in our community when I saw this -- in thirteen years we have lived in the same house, rearranging furniture when family increase required it to accommodate our growing family. We stayed here because we could afford it and it was a modest home with a modest mortgage. Every other family stayed in their house for a year or two, and then sold to buy a bigger house with the one or two children which was "all they could afford" (with two full time incomes and the kids in daycare), and we've stayed here watching our neighbors change every other year. They buy a house to flip it and turn a profit so as to buy an even bigger house.
