Dr. Oz recently had a fellow doctor on his show and this doctor stated that one of the first things they learned in medical school is that ALL drugs are toxic to the human body. Doctors should do everything to help the patient heal through lifestyle and diet changes before prescribing drugs. What is ironic is that most doctors seem to only know drugs, surgery and radiation. Diet and lifestyle should absolutely be the first thing that doctors address since according to the National Cancer Institute of Health, childhood cancer is rare, although it is the leading cause of death by disease among American kids! This is VERY scary.
I have NEVER liked to take drugs. Drugs don't cure. They just deal with symptoms. I will suffer in pain over taking drugs and I've suffered a lot but I know that drugs are harmful to my body. I research until I find something healthy that works. I will share some of these with you.
Here is what I found for ear infections after my daughter continued to have ear infections after rounds of antibiotics and surgery to put tubes in her ear wasn't working. Our bodies have an amazing ability to heal themselves. The best thing to do is to work on having a healthy immune system. Here is a wonderful and healthy way I found to cure my raging sinus infection after brain surgery. Learn how to make fresh lemonade and become more alkaline and drink this instead of health destroying sodas.
I've cured skin cancer, warts and moles with this product. Once they are gone, they NEVER return. I've been using it for many years and can't say enough good things about it. When I had a frozen shoulder that was so painful and not wanting anyone to even touch it, I found trigger point therapy which is so gentle and has cured many aches and pains in my body. After I had my neck fused and nine months after surgery I was still in incredible pain, I discovered The Tendonitis Expert and after a whole month of laying on frozen peas and doing neck wiggles, I was able to get out of my bed of pain; just in time for my oldest son's wedding!
When my youngest daughter, Cassi, burned herself so badly on her foot that her skin fell off, I found the curative powers of aloe vera and after a week, the skin was pretty and pink. My sister battled eczema on her arm for years by trying all the stuff the doctor gave her to try on it and nothing was working. She finally got rid of all gluten and was completely healed. The same thing happened with my son-in-law; getting off gluten healed his troubled gut. My mom healed herself completely of colitis, which the doctors say is incurable, by living on all raw foods and giving up all dairy and meat for a time. My Aunt cured her shingles by taking L-Lysine. She took ten capsules the first day, nine the second, etc and by the seventh day, she was completely cured.
You can cure yourself of constipation and allergies and asthma. I had a bladder infection so badly that I had a fever and bled from it and was able to cure it by using this healthy product that cured me in just a few days. After one of my babies, I got a breast infection with a red breast and a high fever so I lived on lemon and honey water all day. The next day, I was much better. After my first brain surgery, my esophagus was fried from all the cortisone I had to take and after a year of taking the drugs that stopped all stomach acid which made me worse. I finally found a healthy way to heal myself with no drugs. I met a woman who suffered with migraines her whole life and took every drug available for relief but found health and healing through simple and healthy dietary changes. We didn't vaccinate our children because they were drugs with potentially harmful side effects, preferring to do everything we could to build up their immune systems instead.
Okay, I'm sure you're tired of hearing about all the healthy issues I have gone through but I just wanted to share them to let you know that you don't have to go the drug route to cure yourself of most diseases. If you want more of my cures, go to my Pinterest Health Posts. If you've gotten this far, thanks for listening!

Another reason I am so glad you take the time to urge us on to better health is that I believe as Christians we should be the healthiest people on the planet. WE should be the ones leading the way on healthy living. We should be living in such a way that others will take note. Instead we seem to have all the same health issues as the rest of the world. Many many Christians are overweight and battling diseases (check out the prayer lists in the bulletins and many of the requests are for other Christians because of preventable disease). Not only should our lifestyles be so healthy and good that non-Christians would want to emulate us but they should be that way so that we can be fully used by God as He intended. If God intended us to live and serve Him with good works here on this earth for 85 years but the last 25 of them were compromised because of preventable health issues (eating the wrong foods etc.) that is not good. Sure God can make out a plan B but it may or may not include us. As servants of God, we should take care of the temple He gave us to the best of our ability. We should be the best stewards possible.
One last question Lori (and I honestly don't want to get you in trouble but I want to hear your response). What is your understanding as a Godly woman on Christians taking drugs for anxiety/depression and other emotional issues?

Lori's internet access dropped off so I will try to tackle your difficult question about drugs for anxiety/depression... with so many taking them today with somewhat mixed reesuts.
We had a pretty close family member go into huge anxiety issues when hitting menopause and the doctors put her on some drugs that sent her into five years of a torturous ride. She would have never started if she had known what she would have to endure with moving from one addicting drug to another, finally to be clean of all drugs a year ago, and just now 90% back on track to her old self.
I have friends and clients who seemingly needed the drugs, especially for bipolar, but again a big mixed bag of short term successes just to go back into a torturous time.
I have a few clienys who after years have found the right set of drugs that seem to keep them steady, focused and happy, but to watch the road they have been through I am surprised they survived at times.
No one can really answer your question but the person themselves and their closest family and doctors. Each circumstance must be prayerfullly evaluated and certainly a natural approach taken first, but when one gets "at their wits end" one does almost anything for that short term relief, hoping they have found the magic pill. There are enough successes that the drug companies and doctors keep the drug machine moving forward, and no one knows what would happen to those who did not take the drugs, so it is impossible to quantify the help or damage they will do to an individual.
I think all one can do is warn anyone thinking of going on the drugs to first look at the many sites discussing their damaging effects on some people. If you are sensitive to drugs at all, be thoughtful and prayerful about things and even if jumping in consider a half a dose first as to much can be worse than none at all.
Tough question, no good response except to warn people to do their own individual research. What we say we might never do having seen how much damage it causes may get thrown out if we are the one desparate for relief of such dibilitating mind issues of anxiety and depression. I have only had them mildly, but they are awful... and I have found huge and seemingly permanent relief with heavy doses of fish oils and lecithin. Try the natural cures first.

I am nearing menopause myself and anxiety hit me pretty hard a few years ago out of the blue ~ mainly medical anxiety. I refuse to go on anti-anxiety or depression meds, so i've learned to pray and calm myself as best I can when it hits. I am on a beta blocker due to stress-related hbp. This has been another issue I am dealing with. I have been healthy and didn't even start seeing a general practitioner until 46. I had a baby at 42 and it seems my body went haywire after that. Anyways.......I was wondering what your friend did to help her anxiety? I have been told by some of my friends who have went through this transition naturally that it will pass after the fact. Thanks.

My family member used a natural GABA which seemed to help a lot, but don't asssume that taking more is better... best gto take just a bit.
Calm Magnesium is what I think has cured my anxiety along with some other self-taught biofeedback... call it Bble verses and help in those times from Lori in keeping my mind focused on the good, the pure, the lovely, etc. The Magnesium may be huge for many people and is so inexpensve.
Look online and strat with the least expensive thiigs that make sense to you. I sleep so much better with calm magnesium.

I hope it is all right to chime in here, only because I have had close family members and friends struggle with anxiety and depression. I too, have struggled with it before, particularly with postpartum after my daughter was born very sick and prematurely.
One friend was able to go completely off of her antidepressant simply by exercising a half an hour each day and eating cleaner. There have even been studies that show daily exercise can be as effective as medication. Also, as Ken mentioned, my family member takes fish oil; fermented cod liver oil to be precise. She also increased her omega-3's by consuming fish and flaxseed. Personally, I struggle with low thyroid, which I have chosen to successfully control with diet. Just by increasing my iodine I do not have to take any prescriptions. Before it was treated, however, I had days where I felt pretty tired and sad, especially in the winter. For me, sitting around and feeling sorry for myself did not help. It only makes you feel worse. But by serving others around me, which include my family, church, friends and the locak nursing home in particular, it really helped take the focus off of my problems. Being thankful and praising God helps tremendously, even when it's the last thing that you feel like doing. Phillipians 4 tells is to rejoice always! God wants us to have joy. Pray to Him with your requests, giving Him praise and thanksgiving, and He will not let you undergo anything you cannot handle without Him.
I firmly believe Satan will use depression to steal your joy and spiritual power and freedom. He wants to bring us down emotionally. The way we respond when we start feeling sad and worried makes all the difference. Resist the devil at his onset. If we don't do this immediately, he becomes harder to resist. Fix your eyes on God-He is bigger than our disappointments, discouragement, depression and certainly the devil. Remember, we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us!
One my favorite verses is Psalm 16:11-"You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand." (NIV) I repeat this verse to myself often as it is such a comfort.
My heart and prayers go out to anyone struggling with depression and anxiety... I believe it is a real and debilitating thing. Another close friend of mine has truly had an extremely difficult time with it. Thankfully, God is the greatest counselor and physician we could ever have! I just felt compelled to share with you what has helped me and others in hopes that it could help you. Thankfully there are doctors and medicines available, and I don't necessarily believe them unbiblical to use as God can work through them. I do agree though, it's always best to try a natural and spiritual approach first to avoid any unwanted side effects from drugs. But I do hope and pray things get better for you and the Holy Spirit gives you wisdom to treat it in the best way.

-deaths of family and friends, with some dying from disease and age, one from auto accident, two suicides, one murdered
-my and my childrens' poor health
-loneliness as I had few friends
-unhappy home and church life throughout my life.
I never resorted to medication because I knew that pills wouldn't solve these problems, working instead on behavior, skills, knowledge. Only once did I take antidepressants; after the birth of my second child, my mood swings were so severe that I and my doctor concluded postpartum. Reading this may look shocking, but I have learned that my suffering has given me understanding into many peoples' pain. I used to feel cursed, now I think God has been empowering me to help.
My husband is suicidal and needs medication, and was emotionally immature. He came to terms with a traumatic event when he was two, which kept him immature. Upon acknowledging this, he rapidly "grew up". Recently, he came to terms with the severe bullying he endured during his teens. I now think that his suicidal tendencies are due to the bottling up the hatred, pain, and murderous emotions. He is now trying to forgive his bullying tormentors. I think this will give him peace, stop this cycle, and hopefully his need for medication.
Medical science states that depression is caused by a chemical imbalance. I agree, as it is easy to become unbalanced in many ways. Yet like aspirin, that stops the feeling of pain but not the reason of pain, antidepressants counteract the feeling of desperation but not address the why. Our religion is about the why. I have no qualms about taking medication to help you function as long as you are trying to get to the why.

Too many of us were told to just give tylenol or ibuprofen to our kids for every little fever or ache without understanding the consequences of our actions. We must become informed people so we can make the best decisions for our health and the health of our children.
Blessings to you!!

About 10% are caused simply by biology and not preventable.
Perhaps x-rays should be limited in children. Although I don't think too many unnecessary x-rays are done.
Something that we have almost no control over- our water- could lunk to cancer. Please Google "Camp Lejeune water contamination".

We are for the first time seriously considering moving out of CA as we cannot live in a state that will not give people a choice on vaccines then demands a choice for so many other ridiculous immoralities, especially abortion and gay marriage.

Whilst natural options are great and have been around for many centuries, there is a time and place for conventional medication and modern medicine does work wonders and save lots and lots of lives. My mother would not be here today without her thyroid medication and my father needs his asthma medication because nothing has been able to cure it. Its all about common sense and listening to the experts as they know far more than I do.
