My Very Productive Kitchen

Yes, this is a picture of my kitchen. I used the big pot on the stove to make another batch of chicken broth.  I also just finished chopping up a very large salad. I smell yams cooking for dinner and a roasted chicken in the oven. The vegetables are ready to steam for dinner.

Yesterday, I made kefir and a large pot of my homemade chicken and vegetable soup from my broth I make from the roasted chicken.  Homemade chicken broth makes everything better! I made a big batch of our homemade salad dressing.  I always use healthy fats to cook with. Today, I went to Jimbos, Trader Joes, and Costco and loaded up on all my good, healthy food.

We use our kitchen A LOT!  Since we make everything from scratch, it does take a lot of time and creates a lot of mess. I am getting better at cleaning as I go. I fill the sink up with hot, soapy water and put the dirty dishes in it as I go.

Fixing healthy food for my family has definitely been a priority for me.  It has always been difficult for me to be away from the home for too long  since I love taking care of my family in this way.  I love being home cooking, cleaning, blogging, reading, mentoring, etc.

I am so thankful God wants me to be a "keeper at home" and for a husband who works so hard so I am able to be home.  Find joy in being a keeper at home if you are able to be one!  Do it with thanksgiving and to the best of your ability.

Whatever your hand finds to do,
do it with all your might.

I like messy kitchen, that says there is family activity. I hate walkin to a big kitchen and it looks like a museum. By the way I make Kombucha too. Do you use it only for medicine? What else can you do with it? Thanks for sharing. I hope your daughter wins the contest:-)

I also enjoy cooking, but, like you, I always make a mess in the kitchen while cooking! As long as the food tastes good and we clean up afterwards, I say why worry about making sure you have a clean kitchen while cooking! ;)

I love to cook and love making healthy and new dishes for my family - also spending quite a bit of time in the kitchen (brings lots of joy for sure). I am trying my hand at new curry recipes (as my husband loves curry) and so far they have all been really yummy. I am a very neat cook and clean up as I cook (and have my sink full of hot soapy water) because this is the way my mother cooked and the way she taught me. It really doesn't matter (we all do things differently) as long as cooking is fun and the end results are enjoyed by all. Tonight we are having a homemade leek and feta quiche and a peach cobbler.

Last month, following Cassie's example, I completed the Whole30! But, boy, did I have to cook a lot! Most of the time I try to clean up as I cook, since I have a small kitchen and no dishwasher and a dirty kitchen just makes me feel depressed.
Hope your toe feels better. Thanks for your encouraging messages.

Your kitchen looks like mine! I have the same salt, ghee and right now I even have the same pot on my stove as I make some homemade chicken soup for my son and daughter-in-law who have the flu. I keep a big jar of coconut oil on my counter....so far I haven't dropped it on my toe LOL! I agree...it takes time to plan and prepare healthy meals for your family, but I believe that is one of the things God has called us to do. I love taking good care of my family. Thanks for all of your encouragement and helpful information!

I cook similarly .. everything from scratch .. and once in a while my hubby (I don't think he truly understands how important it all is .. ) will comment ... 'why don't we just stop and buy a pizza so you don't have to mess up the kitchen .... and my reply is .. it's too important of a task and I LOVE to make our food with love and good ingredients.
My kitchen is always a disaster. I figured out several years ago when I started cooking everything from scratch that my kitchen would be messy always. But, at least my kids are happy and eating delicious food! Thanks for sharing! It helps to know I am not the only one :-)
Your kitchen looks just like mine - except you left out the piles of homesteading books I just checked out at the library! LOL I have to remind myself daily that a mess is just a sign of life. Here's to happy, healthy, and productive!
Lol! Got the same thing going on here :) I found you on the Barn Hop and I would love to have you join the fun on my Creative HomeAcre Hop! http://www.theselfsufficienthomeacre.com/2013/02/...

Hope to see you there!
I try to clean as I go, but end up being more of a create, then clean type of kitchen too.
My kitchen is equally messy as I spend quite a lot of time in in preparing meals for the kids each day. I clean as I go also :)
I had to click on your kombucha post to see what that was! Your busy kitchen sounds very productive!
I had to click on kombucha as well!

Great M post!
some people are neat and orderly in their cooking habits. some are not. i am definitely a NOT. thank goodness there is such a thing as a dishwasher!
Popping by from Jenny Matlock's Alphabethursday.

I am glad to see you actually live in your home instead of one who lives in a perfect house, always looking like a museum.
Your dishes sound very herarty and I can almost smell your roasted chicken. Yum!~Ames
My kitchen gets used a lot also. I am always making something for a party or for friends or for me!

A messy kitchen denotes a creative mind!
When my kitchen looks like that normally means a good feast. Is on its way. Any way it cleans very easily
Oh, that is paintful! If you go to the doc, ask for a boot, so you can at least walk without bumping your toe in anything (worth the docs visit, believe me!) Wishing you a speedy recovery!
The same happened with my daughter, just ready for be, before Christmas morning, broke her toe in two places - just this week could put her regular shoes on!
Yeah, I miss the business and mess in the kitchen now all my kids have moved out!
My kitchen is always a mess from trying to practice cooking :) I am getting there...soon I can relate to all cooking and kitchen posts:) Speedy recovery !

Hugs,
Scudss
My husband is the real cook in the family, I do the clean-up, happily♫ Sorry about your toe. My M effort: http://lmkazmierczak.blogspot.com/2013/02/mosaic-...
Messy kitchens means they're being used!

And that's always a good thing in this fast food, preservative free world.

Thanks for linking.
