All Over The Duggar's Walls

God wants us to know His Word. He wants us to teach our children His Word consistently. He tells us in Deutoronomy 6:9, "You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates."  I have noticed while watching the Duggars that they take this verse quit literally. Right above their stove is engraved the words, "Give thanks with a grateful heart." Next to their front door is a sign that states, "Act justly. Love mercy. Walk humbly." There are verses and encouraging words all over their home.

The above photo is from our family room. {Yes, there is an empty space to the right for Steven and Emily's photo! Can't wait!}  I have another framed photo of verses on my kitchen counter that Erin gave me and some on my refrigerator that Cassi made. My calendar has a verse on it as well as some pictures around my home. My children had verses in their rooms on posters or framed pictures. We can NEVER be reminded too often of God's Word.

When I was growing up, I had a poster in my room of a picture of a flower growing through a rock. It said, "God can break the hardest heart so faith can grow." I grew up with that imprinted upon my heart and thought about it often.

We are called to encourage one another daily. Paul exhorts us to "call to remembrance" for it is so easy to get swept away with the world and its evil ways if we aren't consistently renewing our minds with God's Truth.

HERE and HERE are a few places I found on the Internet to help give you ideas of verses and posters you can buy. I am sure if you are artistic, you could paint them on you walls. At the end of the Duggar show last week, all of the children were singing to their parents this song ~

We are a family. A happy, happy family.
We serve each other every day.
We're building character God's way.

It brought tears to my eyes. Just the fact that we have a godly family on television in the midst of so much filth, is such a blessing to so many of us. Thank you TLC and Duggars for opening your home to us and showing America what a godly family looks like.

Do you have Scripture verses on your walls? Are you helping your children hide God's Word deep into their hearts so they won't sin against Him?

My grandmother handwrites verses on bits of paper and pins them around the house and cabin. Sometimes, it's not even the full verse, just the book, chapter and line, but she knows the Bible that well, and it's a reminder to her. She also inserts these into the cards she sends on birthdays or holidays or just because. She always seems to send the verse I need in that moment that I pin in the house or car. My grandmother is an amazing woman of God.

I write scripture verses on colorful 3x5 cards and put them on bathroom mirrors, the refrigerator, doors and other places throughout the house. I totally agree that we should have God's word close at hand always, and it will be written in our hearts (and also the hearts of our children). I also enjoy watching the Duggars. They seem to be a great family that truly "walks the walk." Thanks for this post.

This reminds me of our beautiful Johanna when she was a teenager she would write the scriptures all over her bedroom walls in coloured caulk, from top to bottom, it blessed us so much, that our daughter loved God's Word so much.

I had only just finished repainting the living-room and dinning-room when she came to me and asked if she could write them on the walls in there. My answer; YES! Now days we still have the Word of God on our walls however now, the Word of God is written on pretty plaques, I have made.
It is so good that our children see what we stand for and believe in!

That should of said - Out for the mouths of babes and sucklings, God has perfected His praise.
My children are grown ups now. Have to admit when they were small never had the idea to put scripture verses all around like the Duggars. It's a great idea.

I think it is a great idea too. I've been scouring Goodwill stores looking for old samplers and pictures with verses on them. I like the "Granny Chic" look and would love to have a lot of those old scripture samplers and prints from the 1970s and earlier.

I type out verses and change them regularly. I have some hotspots where I put them, on the cupboard over the sink (where I stand alot!), on the top of our computers etc. I also have scripture on calendars etc around the house. I can then learn the verses at my hotspots and then change them for new ones,

I agree with you (and God's Word) 110%!

Yes, I embellish our home with God's Word. In the master bedroom, I used a projector to help me color pencil Phil. 4:8. I used "sweetheart" instead of brethren. :-)

In our guest room/Inspiration Studio where I sew, craft, pray, read and write, I did the same process using my life verse, Psalm 90:17.

In our living room is a huge wall. I collected different styles of letters from all over and hung them on the wall to spell "Rejoice evermore."

If we truly love the Word of our God, we will feed our eyes with it in our homes.

Hugs and happy highways,
Kelley~

We follow that verse literally, and have the words of Deut. 6:4-9 on each of our doorways. These were among the first verses that my children learned when they were 3 years old.
Hi there...I found your blog bc i 'google' the lyrics to the song the sweet Duggar children were singing. By any chance do you know the name or how to find the lyrics to the entire song? Your blog looks like one i'd like, I'll be back after I make lunch for my children :) Thank you!

It's much easier to find Scripture art today than in my earlier years of marriage and motherhood. Whatever my children were facing I would write out a verse and post it by the bathroom mirror. We'd also illustrate chapters from magazine pictures. Psalm one was the first. I treasure the words written in five year old print.
I love all the verses you shared. Definitely a reminder and great idea to have verses all over the house. God is good!! Hope you have a wonderful weekend and thanks for sharing.

Stopping by from Kelly's Korner link-up. :)'
