Goats leave their little kids for hours while they go off to forage for food, whereas the sheep never go any further than earshot from their little lambs. I thought of all the mothers who leave their little ones to go off for hours to their jobs and careers. This is goat mothering. I would rather be a sheep mother and belong to God's company, wouldn't you?
Satan wants to devour your children. He wants to get hold of their minds and infiltrate them with subtle deceptions against God and His truth. He wants to mar their spirits and take away their purity. He wants to destroy their souls.
This is why Satan hates mothers being in the home. They stand in his way. He wants them out of the way so he can do his work. He wants their children in day cares and the public education system that is becoming more and more foreign to everything that is biblical.
King David cried out that if we want our sons to be like plants grown up in their youth {mature and steadfast} and our daughters to be strong and beautiful like the pillars in a palace we have to get rid of all that is foreign to God and His Word {Psalm 144:11-13}.
Each new day we have to plan, prepare, and provide wholesome food for children's bodies. It is a negligent mother who does not care what her children eat. It is an ignorant mother who thinks that endlessly cooking and preparing nutritious meals is wasting her time. It is a powerful part of her mothering.
It is just as important to plan and prepare food for their soul and minds. It is a careless mother who lets them have unlimited electronic access and does not lead them to food that nourishes and stimulates their minds.
However, most important of all, she must plan, prepare, and provide
fresh food each day for their spirits.
Rescue me and deliver me out of the hand of aliens,
Whose mouth speaks deceit
And whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood.
Psalm 144:11

The other day hubby and I were working out an arrangement so we could have different kids at different appointments using 1 car (our only working 1). The youngest child (10) was listening in on our planning session, and she said to me, "why are you going, you need to be home?" She didn't understand I was helping out her daddy by taking 1 of the boys to an appointment, but her words were true and honest...I *am* needed at home. My kids are now used to me being home each day when they go to school and come home, and if something happens at school they know they can call and I'll be there. If I can't get there by car, there's 2 feet and a short distance. I'm home to make the meals, clean, take care of things the kids need, tend home to make things lighter for hubby, and so on. This is my place.
And yes, I've been on the other side of the coin as well, as a single mom and working 3 part time jobs to make ends meet with a special needs child. I did that for a few years, and never want to do it again. My son missed out on many things because I was gone so much in order to keep a roof over us and food in our bellies. I did what I could in the time I had, but I don't believe it was enough during his formative years.
Home is where I belong, and I'm grateful to be able to be there.

My life as a wife and mother is far from ideal, but one thing I do cherish thankfully is the ability to be home full-time with our children. Years ago when I asked the Lord what in the world He wanted from me, I was led again and again to the scriptures pertaining to "feeding his lambs." At the time I had one son who was almost grown, and I thought, "What in the world?" In retrospect, I laugh at myself because God knew I would have a husband and lots of little ones just seven short years later. He was preparing me to see my purpose as a mother. You see, I did not know Christ at all when I was raising my son alone all those years, and he was a teenager before I was even in church regularly, seeking God's face. I did not have any knowledge of how to even BE a Godly mother with my son. God is still able to redeem those years, but it is a very painful process sometimes to see where I could have done better with my son.
With our little lambs, I have an entirely different perspective. I fall short. But I keep going. God keeps giving me His strength to keep going. I'm home with them...I've never had to leave them in daycare. They don't want to get away from home. They want to be here, with me. They eat their meals here, do their school work here...they love their home. I want them to always be that way. I want my girls to see that there is nothing "wrong" with being a wife and mother at home.
I've been a single mom like Mrs. Abella and it's very, very difficult and painful. I, too, feel very fortunate to be home with our children with no pressure to go out into the world for something better, or earn money. Thank you for sharing this.

I am surprised with your views on Satan as they are significantly outside the views of the apostles, but I am with you if what you mean is that we often blame Satan instead of taking individual responsibility for our own actions and lives. The topic today is referring to our children, and their personal responsibility can only come if they are properly taught the truth and protected from the influences of the world, and worldly thinking until such time as they can make properly their own choices. We are told that the adult ability to make right choices is not fully formed until 18-25 years old. So protecting children until then from Satan is very important, and Satan is another way of saying all that belongs not just to the underworld, but “the world” as Jesus describes it. And Paul says,
“In whom the god of this world (Satan) hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them” (2 Corinthians 2:4)
So Nancy Campbell makes a very valid point that the Bible itself makes repeatedly, often referencing Satan with his various different names. We do understand from the Bible that as believers we are not to fear Satan’s personal influence in our lives because Satan is just one individual and cannot be omnipresent. What we do not know is how many legions of demons he controls, nor their reach. It is probable that both the apostles and Nancy Campbell of today’s post reference to Satan is not just an individual, but as the personification of all evil, and more than that, the orchestrator of a world mindset that opposes all that God desires from mankind.
Peter’s admonition to us is to “Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour” (1 Peter 5:8).
Here is the main issue with Satan as it relates to our children, and that is that he wants to deceive them, away from the truth of God’s Word and Jesus, and into the open arms of the world and worldly thinking. Unfortunately, too many do not know how dangerous he really is and how persuasive his lies can be. Take just the simple concept of evolution now accepted as mainstream thinking when God is simply the designer of all, but now even Christians are beginning to accept the lies inherent in the concept. Take away the need for a Creator, and you have undermined the faith for untrained minds.
Paul says that we must ”with gentleness correct those who are in opposition, if perhaps God may grant them repentance leading to the knowledge of the truth, and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, having been held captive by him to do his will” (2 Tim. 25-26). This certainly does not sound like the Satan who is a pipsqueak who has little effect on humans. Satan has orchestrated a myriad of knowledge paths all leading to confusion so that so many might never come to the knowledge of the truth. Once we leave the clear teaching of God’s Word we are hopeless in finding our own way.
There are many verses that when put together paint a picture of Satan, the Devil and the ruler of this world who is leading the world to a climatic culmination in the worship of the Antichrist. Here is what God finally says about the pipsqueak:
“And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed for a little season” (Rev. 20:1-3).

The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
This verse helped me to understand the devil and his ways a lot more than I did! When I was a child I used to pray for the devil to repent so he wouldn't have to go to hell; my Mama and Daddy often tell me now that they were always blessed by the fact that I just wanted everyone saved; so no one would go to hell. As I grew older I realized that there was no hope for him and that hell was what he deserved! Over the years I have learned that the devil only comes to us to steal, kill, destroy and lie!!
