Living In Sin

She was raised in the church.  She knows Truth.  She has walked away from living the Truth.  She lives with her boyfriend now.

Her grandmother loves Jesus.  She didn't like this boy her granddaughter was living with, so she treated him poorly.  She changed her mind recently.  She decided to be kind and loving to him.  He's responded and loves her now.  They hug each time they see each other and have fun together.  She loves him now.

What way do you think is most likely to win him to the Lord?  Being upset with him that he is living in sin with her granddaughter and treating him poorly or loving on him?

We don't win others to Jesus by being mean.  Actually, we aren't suppose to be mean to anyone.  The only people Jesus was angry with were the religious leaders who gave everyone "their" set of rules and expected others to live by them, even when they did not.

Jesus came to save the lost.  He did it by loving and serving them.  We are called to do the same.

We are called to even love our enemies...So, go love those around you ~

the rebellious teenagers

the homosexual neighbors

the woman who gossips about everyone

the irritable husband

the acquaintance in prison

You get the idea.  Even love the unlovable.  Everyone needs to be loved.  People are won by sugar, not by vinegar!  You don't win anyone by being angry and upset with them {including your husbands!}.

Beloved, let us love one another:  for love is of God, and every one that loves is born of God, and knows God.
I John 4:7

I love your post today. We need to love all to bring them to Christ!
Jesus also tells us not to judge others and we will not be judged.
Your post today was beautifully said. AMEN!
Hugs, Deborah
Great reminder. Honestly when you think of the people in your life that positively impacted you the most it was always to most loving people.
Thanks for reminding me this truth which i have forgetton
My sister lived with a few different men before getting married last year.
I had "Christian" family suggest I not be in the wedding. I asked them what would hurt my testimony worst? She knew I did not support her lifestlye- however she knew I loved her.
We always need to HATE sin. We always need to love the person. It's a hard line to walk. I hope my light will someday help lead them to the cross.
Thanks for this post!

I wholeheartedly agree that we should show love to the lost but for the Christian who is living in sin or committing any of the sins listed in 1 Cor 5:11 and is not repentent, we must obey the Word of God and we "must not associate" or "even eat with such people." This is a very difficult teaching and even harder to put into practice but we cannot replace our wisdom for the Lord's. I've personally been in this situation and I can tell you it was the hardest thing, so far, that I've had to deal with in my Christian walk. But, in the end, the couple married and the Lord gave me the freedom to be part of that celebration as they walked together away from sin. If one partner is a Christian and one is not, that is even more complicated but we still must obey the Lord and allow the Holy Spirit to guide our actions so they are in line with God's Word. Thanks for dealing with such a difficult topic, most people avoid it.

Yes, these verses on not even eating with those who claim to be Christians, yet walk in sin is a tough one. I'm not sure I want to tackle that one in a post. I would have to be in deep prayer and be advised by my husband and other godly leaders before I did refuse to eat with a fellow "Christian". So many claim to be Christians but you can tell by their fruit that they are not. Just because they said the sinner's prayer when they were young doesn't make them a true believer in my opinion. People would have had to deal with me like that for many years because I was so unsubmissive to my husband...maybe I would have learned real quick if no one ate with me! This is a tough one!
You are rifght Lori, you must be in prayer and seeking Godly guidance when you find yourself in this situation. Also, remember that only specific sins are mentioned in that verse and I found I had to go back to the original Greek to see exactly what was meant by the words used so I could be sure I was applying it correctly. It is very, very difficult and, if any of you find yourself in this situation, make sure everything you do is predicated on the Word of God and done in love and be in constant prayer, seeking the Lord's will. I prayed every day that if I was in error, the Lord would send a Godly person to correct me. What I got was Godly people coming to me to tell me they supported me and to encourage me. So God was faithful to let me know I was in His will.
