The Bible commands that we love one another fervently. Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently. {I Peter 2:22}
According to the dictionary, fervent means ~
having or showing great warmth or intensity of spirit, feeling,
enthusiasm, etc.; ardent: a fervent admirer; a fervent plea.
hot; burning; glowing
Do the people around you feel that kind of love emanating from you? Especially your husband? Does he feel you accept him for his faults and love him any ways? Are you happy to see him when he walks into a room? Does he know you defend him and always speak good about him to others? Are your children deeply secure in the love you have for their father?
It is good to examine ourselves and make sure we are walking according to Scripture. The Bible tells us that in the last days people's love will grow cold. Because lawlessness is increased, most people's love will grow cold. {Matthew 24:12}
We see it happening all around us. Marriages are crumbling. Families are being torn apart. Evil and hate are growing. Immorality is rising. What is right is wrong and what is wrong is right. We, who are called by His name, must be diligent to love others fervently for love overcomes a multitude of sins. Above all, keep fervent in your love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins. {I Peter 4:8}
So, for now on, don't make your husband, children, family, and friends guess if you love them. Love them deeply, consistently, and earnestly even when they don't deserve it. Let us continue to be salt and light to this rapidly decaying lost world.
