Keeping My Cool in the Midst of Being Trashed

My purpose for writing this blog was never to become "famous or infamous" {as my sister called me after my post went viral}. It was to teach women the godly principles that the Lord has commanded older women to do in His Word. As you may have noticed, I am not doing it for the money either, since I have no advertising on my blog. {I am in the process of writing a book, however, since I have been asked to write one.} I recently received this note from a woman.

Dear Lori,

I don't know how you, day by day, post truth and have it trashed to shreds so hatefully and you keep your cool and so calmly as you just keep posting. I just wanted to encourage you. You’re not alone! Some of us women who follow your page are actually interested in truth and what God's Word has to say about marriage and a women's role. I have been married almost 20 years! Doing it my way and how the world says to do it for the first half and trying it God’s way the last half. I can say that I don't care what anyone says; doing it God’s way works! My marriage has NEVER been better. We have never been more in love and we have never had wedded bliss like we do now! My heart breaks for so many deceived and blinded by Satan and his schemes to destroy the beautiful role God created women to have. Anyway, I'm rambling but just wanted to say THANK YOU! Your page and posts are an encouragement and a blessing to me! Keep speaking the truth!

The reason I can write what I do while being mocked and ridiculed is because it needs to be said and I want to please the Lord rather than men. Many Christian woman barely look different than worldly woman. Their marriages are either falling apart or heading for divorce. Children are being raised to rebel when they are older. Women dress immodestly and are entertained by the same things that entertain the world. Often, I receive letters like the one above and I tear up every time since it will never get old seeing marriages restored by applying biblical principles to them.

I love Charles Spurgeon. When I listen to a sermon or read a devotional, I want to be convicted, challenged, and encouraged. He does all three. Here are parts of one of his devotionals ~

"If we would follow the Lord wholly, we must go right away into the wilderness of separation and leave the Egypt of the carnal world behind us. We must leave its maxims, its pleasures, and its religion too, and go far away to a place where the Lord calls His sanctified ones. When the town is on fire, our house cannot be too far from the flames. The further from worldly conformity the better. To all true believers, let the trumpet call be sounded, "Come ye out from among them, be ye separate."

What is ironic is that I didn't become "famous and infamous" by those who loved what I teach but those who hated it. However, God has worked all things together for good. What they meant for evil, God meant it for good {Genesis 50:20}. The unfortunate thing about it all is that many who love what I write are too afraid to "share" it for fear of the hate and ridicule they will receive from others. Those who hate it don't mind at all sharing it. Why are Christians today so afraid to spread truth? This is the question I would love for you to ponder if you are one of those who fear men more than God.

I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ for it is the power of God unto salvation to anyone who believeth {Romans 1:16}. We are commanded to plant seeds of Truth. This world is on fire so we must do everything we can to snatch as many as we can from the fire and be separated from it. Never be afraid, women, to speak Truth since it is mighty to save and it is the best way to live. Our time is short here and none of us know when we will breathe our last. Use the short life that the Lord has blessed you with for good. If you are raising children, teach them the Word consistently. This is your mission field right now. Use any available means to spread Truth, for you just may be surprised to read of others being encouraged to believe in Jesus and changed by the seeds you have planted.

Incline not my heart to any evil thing,
to practice wicked works with men that work iniquity.
Psalm 141:4

Lori,

To quote the late Chuck Colson, "Truth will always prevail." Keep calm, Lori, and carry on.

Thank you, Kelley. Yes, I have read the end of the book! From Revelation 21:

21 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.

2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.

4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.

6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.

7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
Lori,

By the time I got to the "I AM ALPHA AND OMEGA" part, goosebumps crept up the left side of my neck. IS THERE ANY GOD LIKE OUR GOD? He said He would fight for us, and the back of His Book tells us HE WINS! I want Him for my One, True, Living God and I want Him to call me His own.

*hugs*

Great post today Lori. And I honestly believe that even though it was "shared" to promote hatred and to mock, I believe there were probably many who were led to your blog and they needed it. I think that it may have even planted the seeds for some that attacked and spewed their hatred.

Isaiah 55:11
So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

Yes, His Word does not come back void. Thank you, Happy Homemaker!

Good points about Christian women differing very little from worldly counterparts and sermons that convict and challenge as well as encourage. It is sad that Christians today seem to fear man more than God.

There are some other female bloggers I used to read who took their blogs down, perhaps because they were going against the default feminist agenda by teaching the Bible's truth to young women. While I'm unsure of their reasons, I hope this blog will continue to maintain a place online as long as the Lord allows. Many can be blessed by it.

Thank you, Lady Virtue. As long as I have something to say and the Lord gives me strength to do it!
Amen! If God builds you for a purpose He gives you all you need to accomplish it. That's one of the reasons He gave you me! :).

It is interesting to me-when I share your blogs on my FB-No one responds.?
I really don't understand why-, but it is odd:)

We are a remnant, Becky, and most don't like hearing what I teach.
I very rarely get responses when I share overtly Christian content...but dozens of "likes" when I share a cute puppy picture. What is wrong with this world?
Blessings,
Betsy
Spot on, as always. Thanks for telling the truth even when it's not popular!!

I have shared a few things, but my husband is actually the one to get upset with me. He feels like they either portray him as a domineering husband if I believe what I'm posting (which I DO), or if I post encouraging things, he feels like it comes across as though I'm unhappy and need encouragement. I so desperately want to use my FB page to minister and witness to my friends and family when things convict me or I know there is someone who could hear it, but my husband has gotten so upset with me doing that in the past that I just don't feel I can anymore.
i never understood why people trash others. if you don't agree or you are not living that life, just move along. think you started the blog to teach other women- not force women who are not Christians into "slavery" to their husbands. or whatever people are saying about the blog.
I've always said that if you don't like what you are reading "keep scrolling".
