My Love For Joey + Rory

Joey has become known throughout the world. There are so many things that I loved about this woman. I loved how much she loved her husband. I loved how much she loved her baby, even when she found out she had Down Syndrome. Her expressions of joy and gratitude didn't change at all when she learned of this. I loved how she loved Jesus and sang about him boldly. She loved the simple things of life. She loved gardening and singing. She loved making home-cooked food for her family. She loved people. She is an inspiration to so many.

Yesterday, her husband wrote a post about a celebration of her life that was given in her home town. Make sure to watch this video where her father shared that he was saved by believing in Jesus a few months before Joey died; then her mother sang while her father played the guitar.

Joey had a lot of loss in her life. She lost her teenage brother in a car accident and her parents got divorced. Those two tragedies in anybody's life is enough to draw them away from the Lord, but instead it drew her closer. It was the loss of her brother that caused her parent's divorce and it was in Joey's dying days that her father believed on the Lord Jesus Christ. God used Joey's life for so much good and she glorified Him by her life.

Her life is an example to all of you who have parents who have divorced or who have suffered great loss in your life. Joey didn't allow these things to destroy her life but to see all the beauty there was in life; the greatest being her Creator and His beauty. Watching her this past year, I would have never thought these tragedies were in her past since she seemed so cheerful, warm, and friendly. However, her trials and suffering worked good in her life since she clung to her Savior.

This is how God uses trials and sufferings in a believer's life; He uses them for good to refine us and make us more like Him. Those people that God has used most have usually gone through the fiery furnace of sufferings. Sufferings cause us to hold loosely to the things of this world and tightly onto those things that are unseen.

If you have suffered grief or are in a painful trial, use this time to allow the Lord to take those hard edges off of you and use you for His glory like He used Joey. Suffering isn't evil as many assume. No, suffering is for our good. For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us {Romans 8:18}.

Joey is enjoying a much better place now. There is no more suffering, pain, conflict, wars, hate, etc. There is beauty, peace, joy and all things good that our Lord has created for all those who believe upon Him. Choose you this day whom ye will serve but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord!

Take the time and be blessed by this beautiful tribute to Joey by her husband and her love for him. He speaks about the power of love in another's life. Use God's love of you to deeply love your husband and others. His love alone changes others.

He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.
Revelation 21:4

***This will always be my all-time favorite video of hers!
Born to Be Your Woman is great, too.

I wondered when you were going to do a post on Joey. Beautifully said! I cried ile a baby watching parts of her memorial. What an incredible testimony. It's hard knowing she is gone. But I'm so glad she is with our saviour now. God bless Lori.

You're welcome, Shirley.
What a beautiful love story Joey and Rory had. It's such a shame her life was so tragically short but wow, she was so full of love and joy and peace while she was here.

She had a huge influence on many, many people, Taylor. She was a blessing.
I love Joey + Rory and have been fans of theirs for several years. My heart aches for Rory to have to go on without the love of his life and Indy, Hopie and Heidi having to go on without their mama. I am heart broken and find myself crying several times a day when I think about them. Crying and praying for a woman I didn't even know. A woman that made a difference in my life just by loving God, her husband and her family with all that she had. "That's Important to Me" is my favorite song and it makes me smile as it sums up my life perfectly. Watching their TV show on Friday nights with my family was the highlight of my week. I will really miss seeing Joey + Rory together.

I didn't even know they had a TV show, Lisa! Thank you for mentioning it. Yes, it shows what a powerful influence a woman has on others who deeply loves her husband, her children and her God.
Reruns are shown on RFDTV on Sunday evenings. They sang their songs and featured musical guests. Showed snippets of their life on the road and their farm. My favorite was Joey's and Marcy's (Rory's sister) cooking segment filmed at their restaurant. They always ended the show singing a snippet of "That's Important to Me" and giving each other a kiss.
You can also get them on the Internet at roryandjoey.com. I watched one and loved it!
I have been following Rory and Joey ever since the last time you wrote about them. They are such an inspiration. Rory has a gift with writing - his posts on his blog are beautiful. Earlier this month my son asked if we could go to Cracker Barrel and since I had wanted to buy their new CD I thought it was a great idea. We enjoyed a late breakfast and I played the CD when I got home. I later decided to check his blog to see if there was any news and that's when I found out she had died just a few hours earlier. I had been praying for them ever since last November when he said there was going to a night where they wanted everyone around the country to pray for a miracle and for peace with whatever the Lord willed. Such a wonderful couple and I still pray for peace for Rory and his girls. They were great role models for what a marriage should be.

They sure were, Kristen. What do you think about their new CD? I am thinking about buying it since I LOVE hymns!
Hi Lori, I bought their hymns cd on I tunes last night and it's good. But my husband said it had a depressing tone to it. I think that a lot of country music is like that though. I enjoy the singing more than the music itself though.
I know she was sick through a lot of making it. I remember seeing a video of her sitting in front of the mic singing one of the hymns when she was very sick and thin. Maybe this is why the songs have a depressing tone to them.
I think it's beautiful, Lori! I don't listen to country music normally and it definitely has a little bit of that twang but it's good! The last song is depressing, called When I'm Gone. Very sad. I'm not familiar with a lot of these hymns and I'm glad I can learn them now. All of the lyrics come with it too, along with pictures of them. She was a beautiful woman, inside and out!
